According to Carl Lawson (just signed professional contract), Colback deal is close Realise its not much to go on like but he still has contacts in the club
The Italy striker was key to keeping Sunderland in England's top-flight last season, providing seven goals and three assists. But Lambert's transfer to Anfield on Monday has cast doubts over the 23-year-old's future at the Premier League runners-up, with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge already established as first-team regulars. However, Borini's agent, Marco De Marchi, insists that his client wants to fight to be part of Brendan Rodgers' plans. "Does Lambert’s arrival close the door on Fabio Borini? No, I don’t think so," Marchi said. "In this last season, Fabio gave a considerable contribution towards keeping Sunderland up. He was praised by everyone, especially by the Liverpool manager Rodgers. "So, after his holidays he will go back to Liverpool to prepare for the new season wearing the shirt of this historic club. "He wants to compete with everyone and be an extra resource for the coach and the team. "Borini could be of use to any team, but no one has contacted us and his desire is to show what he’s got at Liverpool."
You`d have thought so, unless it`s agent talk, and, tbh, nothing would surprise me with those buggers.
Newcastle United are understood to have won the race to sign Sunderland star Jack Colback. It is believed that Colback is hoping to complete the switch officially on his return from holiday. But the Geordie boy seems destined to remain in the North East after talks with Aston Villa, West Ham United and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet, who tried to persuade him to stay after his contract expired. Colback is a boyhood Newcastle fan, but slipped through the net for United after joining Sunderland at the age of 10. However aged 24, Newcastle look to have won his services on a free transfer while he has his best years in front of him. Sources close to Colback say that he was eager to make the right move at this stage of his career, and it is believed to have been offered a £10m package by West Ham. But the Chronicle understands that Colback is now poised to play for the club he supported as a kid. He may not have been a popular figure when he netted in Sunderland’s 3-0 win over Newcastle last season, but ex-Toon stars such as Barry Venison and Paul Bracewell have proved in the past that at St James’ Park players are judged by contributions on the field by fans. Colback is now likely to bolster Alan Pardew’s squad with further signings expected. The transfer window officially opens on July 1 for business, but some deals can be announced in June, just as those for Yohan Cabaye and Sylvain Marveaux were in 2011. Colback had already spoken about being a Geordie playing for Sunderland when he said: “Obviously parts of my family support Newcastle, but they certainly weren’t going to tell me not to sign for Sunderland. It was an opportunity I had to take. “It was a massive chance for me.” But speaking earlier this year, the Killingworth lad said: “As players it’s your job, isn’t it, it doesn’t matter where you’re from, it’s your job to go out on the pitch and play as well as you can for whoever you play for and that’s what I do.” Meanwhile, United are confident of completing the signing of Tenerife striker Ayoze Perez – while Montpellier star Remy Cabella is also keen on the move to Tyneside. Newcastle have a“never-say-never” attitude on deals after seeing some transfers collapse in recent times, but they do hope to push on with Perez. The Chronicle understands that Newcastle United managing director Lee Charnley has pushed hard to see the deal through for the 20-year-old, and the transfer is all but done.
How stupid is Colback if he joins the Mags, they're going nowhere but down at this rate. I know he want's to join his Boyhood club but you've got to time it, not join them when they're a sinking ship.
If he joins the mags he is going to get some flack thrown at him from safc fans and for the rest of his playing career
What paper was that WMS? just struggling to see any quotes saying he will be going to nufc See plenty old ones about us giving him his chance
I'll never knock a player for wanting to join their boyhood club, however, I will knock stupid footballers.
I've said from day one of this saga I couldn't really care if he stays or goes, if he goes Mags, well, it's about his maximum level. I can't blame anyone who'd want to play for their boyhood club.
Linked with Argentian Wonderkid Vietto keen on Sunderland move Sunderland have made enquiries for Argentinian striker Luciano Vietto. The skilful 20-year-old forward has already been compared to the other diminutive strikers that have come out of Argentina but wants to make his own name by impressing in the Premier League. Liverpool, Everton, West Brom and Leicester have already held tentative talks but the player is keen on working with Gus Poyet. Vietto would cost around £6million and has a dual Italian passport. Chelsea are continuing to monitor Youri Tielemans at Anderlecht. They are not alone, however, as Manchester City, Tottenham, United and Arsenal have also watched his progress since he became Belgium's youngest Champions League debutant at the age of 16 years, four months and 25 days last October. Fiorentina are not interested in making Modibo Diakite's loan deal permanent, according to the defender's agent. The 27-year-old joined the Italian club on loan from Sunderland in January for the second half of the 2013/14 season. However, the centre-back failed to make a big impact for La Viola, making only nine appearances in Serie A. Diakite's agent has now said that the Frenchman will return to Sunderland for next season. "Diakite will definitely return to Sunderland after his loan," Ulisse Savini told calciomercato.it. "At the moment I have no news from Fiorentina or from other clubs so we are preparing to face the next season with the Black Cats."
