The main defence for people supporting the parents was that they didn't know the area and wouldn't have the means to move around.

Now it seems the police are concentrating the search on an area a few yards from where the McCanns were.

Would a kidnapper or murderer really hang around in that area to conceal the 'evidence' or whatever?

The main police witness claims he saw a man who looked like the father carrying a 'sleeping child' away from the apartment.

Whenever there's any new 'development' the McCanns are first on the TV making a statement praising the police etc.

Heard nothing from them at all this time ......... just saying.

This sad case needs to closed one way or another, somehow I doubt anything of consequence will be found - the current investigation will ultimately close and the British Government will have shown to have done their bit -my thoughts are this current excavation/dig is not to prove guilt but their innocence ...though hope I'm wrong

I'm just curious as to how this case (as sad as it is) has captured the media for so long?

There are hundreds of British children who vanish every year so that's a good question.

Is it because the McCanns are middle class doctors or is it because they left their children alone in a foreign country?

Whatever it is, the media are totally captivated as you say.

This has been discussed on this forum before. I personally don't think the McCanns are totally innocent in this. I would love to be proved wrong on that. Having said that why were they never ever charged with the very minimum of child neglect?
My honest belief is that the police think there is something fishy about this. Who is funding this dig? The McCanns? The local police? The British police or who?

    We are mate.

Thousands of British kids have gone missing but, 7 years after the event, there's a huge team of Scotland Yard detectives, both here and in Portugal, working on this case ........ it's absolutely beyond belief, it's costing millions.

"Up to 30 British police are searching hilltop in Praia da Luz, Portugal
South Wales Police send sniffer dogs who hunted for murdered April Jones
Sussex Police send 'search adviser' who also worked on Jones murder."

Makes you wonder why a third party would bury the body so close to the abduction site! What would have happened to the mccanns if he worked in a factory and she was a cleaner.

    The headline would've been,

"Brit kids abandoned by parents on the booze!'

I'm not saying they're guilty, just wondering about the case.

It just strikes me as strange that the area being searched is 2 minutes walk from the McCann's apartment.

There's something fundamental to consider if there's 'evidence' found at this location.

The natural, and primary, reaction of any criminal is to leave the crime scene as rapidly as possible.

Of all the possible suspects only the McCanns would be unable to do that so would have to dispose of 'evidence' close by.

Because a lot of high profile people attached themselves to the case and set up funds for them to find her, without I may add, getting to know any of the simple facts beforehand. You know the ones I on about, that Sir RB the virgin lad and others. They even got the ex prime ministers spokesperson as their own spokesperson to tell their side of the story. Yeah, it is a strange case and hopefully the truth will come out..

It totally is. If it was an ugly couple living on a council estate on benefits and they left their child at home sleeping while they got drunk at a neighbour's bbq and the child went missing, they'd be a national disgrace and the other kids would be taken into care. I dont see how what the McCann's did is any different other than they're reasonably well-off, educated and Kate is a fox.
