He could have done a more thourough evalutation pre-season though couldn't he? Still had a plethora of talent and was criticised for sticking to severely to plan A (Fabregas and Neymar) and no plan B (Pedro, Sanchez, Tello) until it was too late
Tata Martino will do very well for himself, pretty much anywhere except Barcelona. Anyway, PTF is right, they were due a collapse. All golden eras end.
Bob Smith of Sky Sports News: "Have it on reliable information that Southampton HAVE been looking at many managers from a variety of places and they have either a background in football or ice hockey and that he or she will take over in the next few months after they have some sought of interview that will take place in Southampton or maybe some where else "[/QUOTE]
Marian Pahars has told journalist Joe Batchelor that the Southampton board told him he didn't have enough experience to be appointed manager. Suggests he went for it, no? Marian also says he'd be open to becoming assistant manager here...
1st time posting so don't shoot me. Just been talking to a work colleague who is also a Sfc steward. As far fetched as it seems there was a meeting at the high field hotel (strange venue but away from the big hotels) with Mancini and an entourage of suitslast night. Seems a bit far out there but thought I'd mention it cos it certainly perked me up a bit.
I can see him making as manager here in the future, so agree with Joe, it would be great to see him come here as assistant.
Welcome. Not sure why a steward would know about that to be honest. I'd be pretty surprised if Mancini were interested also, though I suppose it would indicate we are looking to spend a lot of money.
I heard a separate rumour about Mancini last week from a mate at work, I'm half expecting a "leftfield" appointment after Les Reed's last 3 choices but I'd be more than happy with Koeman.
You are right , seems bit too far out for us. You know what the stewards are like , alot of them want to make out that they know stuff when they dont have a clue. Anyway just incase I put a tenner on at Ladbrookes 33-1 . Thought it would be more than that . Thanks for the welcome.
Welcome onboard. Not sure I'd like Mancini at this stage. He's certainly a name and he's certainly a winner. Fran would like him for sure, scarf 'n all.
Welcome saintcolin1975! Mancini is a big name but maybe not the best fit for us at the moment. But if it happens, it happens!
With Mancini he had a large budget for players and with if so 50m and wouldn't be interested and also no CL football
I think Mancini is a pretty good manager who didn't get a fair chance. I don't think he'd come here, and not sure if he'd be my first choice but I mean, if he was available and willing to meet for an interview Saints would be a bit silly not to do it.
http://http://ahellofabeating.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/musings-on-round-2/ I've found some great articles on Ronny Deila since he's been linked to the Celtic job. Stromsgodset won the Tippeligaen for the first team in nearly half a century, with a first team that often contained only two players above the age of 23. The articles also talk about how they play an aggressive pressing game, and how Delia (also a qualified teacher) likes to develop his youngsters in their education as well as football. All in all he seems to really fit in with the 'Southampton Way', but it seems highly unlikely we'd go for an unheard of coach given that a big name manager is more likely to keep the squad together this summer. It'd be interesting to know if he's on our radar though given the size of our recruitment team.

I think most people have been told by someone's neighbours best friend mum who's mate knows someone who works at Saints who knows who's taking over mind is Frank de boer with Dennis Bergkamp as assistant. Come from someone who's lad plays within their academy. Don't believe it myself lol.
