I've gone for Argentina. World Cups tend to be won by countries from the continents in which they are played (when Europe or S America) - I think there will be too much pressure of expectation on Brazil Argentina have some very good players - Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain, Macherano, Lavezzi and some bloke called Lionel - can they gel into a team - I think yes http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo.../10810410/Argentina-World-Cup-2014-squad.html
Brazil - Playing at home, expectant fans and can tolerate the heat. I can't see a European team winning in South America.
Brazil - Home nation advantages, crowds, heat and I simply love their attitude to wards football, skill and enjoyment..
Argentina, as most have mentioned it's difficult for a European team to cope with the climate in South America. I don't think Brazil have a great team like they used to have. Argentina have players coming together at the right age, I do worry if they will gel or rely to much on Messi but they would be my bet. Spain would be my European bet, but I just can't see a team winning a major for the forth time in a row. But I would not write them off.
Dark horses - Belgium. Excellent players, they'll be well organised and hard to beat but they also carry a goal threat, especially on the counter.
I have also gone Argentina due to the quality of their players, the home advantage may prove to be a heavy burden for Brazil and a team from the continent will almost certainly win it..
Going to be either Argentina or Brazil, will go for Argentina simply because they have a better team....surprise package, England!
England will win and the nation will go wild with zenophobic with an abundance of England flags and people going round wearing an England top and trackies.
I doubt a European team will do it, but agree that Belguim could well be the best placed European team at the end, they look very exciting. Brazil are not the team they would like to be and Argentina are a team of individuals, so could leave the door open for Uruguay
I've drawn Belgium in the WC sweepstake at work - they have made it a bit more complicated than just winning (goals scored in group stages etc etc), but should get a run for my money. I backed Argentina at 7-2
Brazil- Tournament being there seems to favour a South American team. They are also hosts apart from being bloody good! Outside bet, Chile- Best European hope- Spain.
Fancy Belguim to win it next time out in Russia but as for this World Cup I reckon Brazil just have too much strength in front of their home crowds plus they are used to those conditions. I would actually say that we are the main dark horse for the competition, not to win it because I don't think that will happen but to get further than people expected.
People are probably choking on their coffee with my France tip. They will either self explode in the groups and go home again in shame or if they can get their act together and get out of the group they have quite an easy passage until the quarter finals and then anything can happen
