Young stopper commits future to Black Cats. Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has agreed a new four-year deal with the Black Cats that will see him extend his stay with the club until 2018. Speaking about his new deal, the 20-year-old said: “Last season was massive for me. I played games at Burton and at Carlisle, which was great experience. “I want to keep developing and working hard and I’m delighted to sign a contract with the club I have always supported.” Pickford joined the Black Cats as an eight-year old in 2002 then signed a two-year scholarship in 2010. He went on to become a key member of the club’s under 21 side and has continued his development with loan spells at Darlington FC, Alfreton Town FC, Burton Albion FC and Carlisle United FC. Sorry it's not Vito Hopefully we'll be getting confirmation of that soon. Glad we're not letting this lad slip through the net though
He looks so young that you could give him a paper bag and a bmx and he wouldn't look out of place http://www.safc.com/news/reserves-and-academy/2014/june/pickford-signs-new-deal
Ben Alnwick got the shirt, them pissed his career away. High hopes for Pickford, so delighted with this.
Probably the only player of the current crop that will make it into the first team Haven't seen him play, but I know he is highly regarded and the fact he got a four year deal speaks volumes
Still looking for another keeper. SUNDERLAND will continue looking for a back-up keeper to Player of the Season Vito Mannone, despite re-signing Jordan Pickford for a further four years. Twenty-year-old Pickford agreed a new four-year deal with the club over the weekend and is now set to be part of the Black Cats’ plans until 2018 at least. The Academy product has caught the eye of head coach Gus Poyet, who sees the England Under-19 stopper as one for the future. But Pickford has yet to make a first-team appearance for Sunderland. And with Republic of Ireland international Keiren Westwood released this summer and Oscar Ustari also at the end of the short-term deal he signed in January, Poyet still needs experienced cover for Mannone. Sunderland have been strongly linked with former Crystal Palace keeper Julian Speroni – an Argentine on friendly terms with fellow South American Gus Poyet – who has left Selhurst Park and is available on a Bosman free transfer, though Palace are understood to have offered him a year’s contract. Sunderland have not yet ruled out the possibility of Argentina international Ustari extending his stay on Wearside. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...rland-back-up-despite-pickford-deal-1-6648325
I might be totally wrong, but I seem to remember a 16 year old lad in the 60s playing a few games - somebody Foster off the top of my head.
