On radio or tv? Read that many of you don't like Gary Bennetts coverage. Long gone are the days of Guy,Gilly and Gatesy. Being a bit biased, my old mate Simon Crabtree was a topper, especially his, 'helluva beating' speech after the nags game. All tv commentators seem a bit **** really, so of no opinion on any of them. So it's Crabbers for me. You?
Partial to Chris Kamara but thats more just snippets on SSN In terms of commentators its all too contrived nowadays, or friends licking the arses of other friends (See Michael Owen) Very few ones that I actually like commentating Special moments like these though make help it
I agree with Comm, Simon Crabtree for me, I'm not sure if he supported us, but he sounded like he did.
Not so much safc but I used to like Jonathon Pearce when he done the comomentary for Sensible Soccer, going back a few years now, then he got a job at the BBC I think and had to go all mainstream and boring.
Preston fan. Always a classic.
I like this one Comm, I was in the north stand and knew it was in all the way from leaving his foot.
Try again, wrong link for me. Wonder which has been the best bit of commentary on SAFC? Surely some from the 73 final must be up there.
Sorry Comm, I tried to do on my tablet Here we go
Anyone remember John Cairns on radio Pisscastle? He was ****ing mint but pissed half the time. He got sacked in the end.
On the subject of commentators Skys boxing commentators Jim Watt and co are becoming intolerable. Watt was so bias toward froch it was embarrassing. Then when they went to Khan inbetween rounds and khan said he thought groves was ahead and starting to control the fight the sky numpty said "do you mean froch? " Wish khan had said "no you ****ing bias ****wit take eddie Hearns cock out ya arse"
I remember John cairns, do you remember Charles Harrison, also the commentator who went to Everton, and the great George bailey. The Boro commentator was it Clive Armitage ?, er.... here is the er.... score, and there was about 12,000 supporters in the ground and it sounded like 60,000 the way they set it up !. George taylor of course on shoot ! on a sunday afternoon. My all time favourite was the legendary Brian moore " they came here in their thousands " at Wembley. And does anyone remember " IT'S A GOAL " on the radio would be loudly shouted by a recorded voice, when a top 3 team scored. And by the way Crabtree missed off that bloke who owned the paper shop in Pilgrim street !.
Bet you used to have teletext on aswell. Then wait for the final scores to start coming in.. Tick....tick...tick Forfar..........4 Queen of the South 2.... Then the pools...
I remember I used to have a tape of the highlights of a 2-2 FA Cup draw at Old Trafford as commentated by John Cairns. It was great - "Stevie Agneeeeeeewwwwww" - had to love the enthusiasm.
Had that as my ringtone for a while Was sat in a restaurant in Newcastle when I got a phone call - never knew I could answer a phone so fast Seem to remember Crabtree and Gary Rowell coming close to getting chucked out of Stamford Bridge when we beat Chelsea 2-4 for "over celebrating" Know he's a bit of an acquired taste, but I always enjoy Alan Green's football commentaries. Love how he's so opinionated and always right. Reminds me of somebody
