Ashley just doesn't seem to see the desperate state we are in or care enough to do anything about it. Sometimes I just think we have no right to be in the Prem under Ashley.

I don't think there's any sorting to be done, though. I think we had a period of fortune where perhaps we picked up one or two bargains due to contractual errors. How often does Ashley think leading clubs will do that? If I was a club chairman and read about Cabaye, I'd pay lawyers thousands to make sure my playing staff are watertight. That was years ago. We can't be the only club in the world that thinks we can pick up bargains and flog them for millions? The dreadful truth is Ashley probably does think in these terms, probably doesn't conceive of a world where his company, NUFC in this case, isn't the market leader, isn't the stock market bully. There are other clubs who now understand that the playing staff are assets to be protected, there is only one tier of money, not three or four, and a club like Lyon shoudn't play second fiddle to a club like Newcastle.

Anyway, that is only part of the non-solution - how is Cabella going to succeed where Ben Arfa or Marveaux failed? Or do we cling to some forlorn hope that Cabaye mk2 is this man and he will automatically perform at the same level? Again, I think Pardew DOES think in this way and again we will be found out. Sad fact is I don't expect to be proven wrong come September. And even if I am, what then? Another season of "don't lose" football to finish 10th? Wow.

We have released too many players so we have to replace them with some... Problem is we need to secure some now or crazy prices after World Cup unless we go for ****e. (Probably )

This trying to run the club on the cheap bollocks is starting to not only get old but absolutely ****ing ridiculous. Pay the ****ing money. It's not like we're short of a few bob ffs. You're not going to get someone like ****ing Cabella for 6 million you clueless ****s.

We need reinforcements and we need them quick before they play in the World Cup and their price shoots up. Other clubs don't seem to have any ****ing problem signing people yet we seem to just procrastinate until someone else comes along. We are up **** creek if we don't get players in.

Going down next season for sure as it stands. Signing Cabella won't change that, they need another 3 in addition to slot straight into 1st team.

Information is filtering through from France about just what happened on a hectic day of transfer dealings for Newcastle United yesterday.

According to reports in France, Remy Cabella was all set to get on a plane to Newcastle yesterday when Montpellier pulled the plug at the last moment, leaving the newly-capped French midfielder astonished.

It is understood that he had reached an agreement with Deputy-Chairman Laurent Nicollin to talk to Newcastle, after a bid of £6.5 million was deemed sufficient.

But at the eleventh hour the club owner, Louis Nicollin, ordered a halt to negotiations, saying he believes Cabella is worth closer to £12 million.

This has put Newcastle in a very difficult position as their £6.5 million offer was believed to be a case of ‘take it or leave it’ - and we may not see another offer from the Tyneside club.

The turn of events is also likely to enrage Cabella, who had been promised a move to a club of his choice this summer.

To me those French reports sound suspiciously like they have come from Newcastle. I know Nicollin is nuts but to suddenly decide he wants double money is bullshit and I don't believe it especially with our previous 'negotiating techniques'.

This is perfect for the club as they can say 'We tried but sadly failed' as per usual. There is a difference between shrewd negotiators and ****ing tight arsed skinflints and we most definitely fall into the latter.

You do have to laugh at Fatty. He wants everyone on the cheap but top dollar for people wanting our players. £3 million for Marveaux. someone really is having a laugh.

I also think we will get Cabella but not until we have gone through all the usual bollocks that accompanies any transfer dealings associated with NUFC and what's more l haven't been drinking rum ! Perhaps l should start!

On days like today it is essential. I have used it to fuel a mammoth assault on my garden. I am paggered. My garden looks tip top though. I fecking hate gardening. I've decided rum gives you superhuman strength, I chopped down about 12 conifers and dug out all the stumps and roots. Lawn mowed, raked and whole garden weeded. The missus thinks I've lost it.

It's always important to throw the word 'mouses brain' into as many conversations as possible or 'they' will come to get you....
