When we signed him he was the third most popular player in the world, third biggest global shirt sales, top shirt sales in the Premiership, and that was part of the reason LFC justified his £50m fee.

He was especially marketable in 'emerging markets' due to his blond looks and it was an area the marketing boys wished to penetrate. He has made us some cash, just a shame he is ****

 

Does anybody know what we made on him merchandise wise??

 

A lot first season, but not enough to make up for getting Ancelotti sacked and costing us at least one Premiership

Really, he is the second worst manager we have had in 20 years (after AVB).
Hoddle, Gullitt, Vialli, Ranieiri, Mourinho, Grant, Hiddink, RDM and Rafa were all better than Scolari imo

 

And Drog did a Ade back then under Scolari.. oh well..

Hoddle wasn't a bad manager, a bit cranky for sure but what he started at Chelsea should never be underestimated. He was solely responsible for bringing in Mark Hughes, Dan Petrescu & Ruud Gullit who bought in Vialli, Zola etc.

 

Getting Hoddle really was the very start of where we are now.

 

Fair play. I'll change scolari to maybe.

Torres is a shocking player now. Not sure how he gets anywhere near the Spain or Chelsea 1st team.

 

Nando is going to brazil not on vacation but to represent Spain.
