It looks like there'll be a lot of clubs fighting over the various transfer targets & the top clubs will be looking to offload to bring in new blood. Wenger has been promised funds to encourage him to sign a new contract, Man Utd need massive changes, Spurs will be like a revolving door and Chelsea will need to look again at their fringe/older players. Liverpool will splash some cash after coming close last season. The next tier teams will be just as busy with Southampton scrambling to replace their departing stars, Everton will be in Europe and looking at their squad and Swansea's new manager will have to shake things up although I can see a massive fail from Monk tbh. Newcastle have a massive job on their hands. They're being linked with every striker on the planet after losing 3 forwards, bit careless that! Hull have Europe to consider with a very weak squad, Villa are up for sale and looking to cut the wage bill, West Ham will have to let Allardyce loose with the chequebook and QPR will get up to their usual ****e despite whatever sanctions they cop. The other promoted sided will be looking to strengthen as well. Sunderland need to be dynamic in this window and avoid being stitched up with overpriced players on daft wages. I reckon Sky will have a field day and this could be the window where Jim White's head finally explodes.
Good summary, Smug. I'm especially looking forward to Jim White's head exploding all over the sky studio on deadline day. Will be interesting to see how much Leicester stoke things up with their daft claims. Villa could end up being a car boot sale for them in particular.
There's summat wrong at that club imo ...... finance seems to be a big problem and the club lacks heart. They made a humongous mistake signing that bent fella
Spot on Smug, I'm not a betting man but I wouldn't mind a flutter on Hull going down. They struggled to handle a cup final and dropped like a stone in the league as a result of it, goodness knows how they will manage the rigours of the Europa League.
Careful with those predictions mate, we all said Hull would drop like a stone, in the 2nd half of the season, and look what happened .............. oops, sorry. Them and Villa look like they're in for a season of worries, not least the ownership issues. I reckon Swansea have made a massive mistake with Monk as well.
It's going to be very tough for hull this year. If you look at the really jammy wins they got at the start and the gifts we gave them they were very lucky. Terrible squad, a manager who is in a bad run and the strain of Europe make them one of my three to go down with villa and Burnley
Hull, Burnley then choose between Villa, Newcastle Swansea and WBA for the last relegation spot. Expecting a season starting well and falling away a little bit towards the end but a 10-12th position for us.
Hoping QPR go straight back down. Would have preferred Derby to have come back up, QPR and that ****head Barton can go play in the fizzy pop. Plus another season of Saggy Chops and his transfer mind games. Wonder if he'll give his casino VIP card a workout? Also would like Villa to go down, and Hull. Cos they are a bunch of ****s. In fact, not even that. ****s are useful.
Soton seem to be imploding. From a position where they really could build they don't seem to be giving any resistance at all.
They certainly did. And Lambert hasn't been their panacea on the cheap, Lerner wants to sell, fans are a bunch of arrogant ****ers......ripe for the drop, despite a good academy.
They're going to have a lot of money to spend, they get the right manager in and spend the money wisely then they'll be fine. My early shouts to go down next year are Hull, West Brom and Burnley
Its one thing having plenty of dosh and another having good players. Look at spurs selling a world class player and bring in loads of expensive players.
That seems to be the price of success! I would think Southampton would be a good outside bet to go down. They've lost their manager will lose lambert, lallana, and possibly lovren to spurs. I guess it depends on who they get in and what players they get in as replacements.
It's a competitive market, I think a lot of players will be holding back till after the world cup even if they're not there as they want to see who's got ambition to press on. So many teams on a similar level. Take Jack. He's touted to be West Hams marquee signing, if I were Jack I'd be thinking, 'well that's not very ambitious. I'm the best they're going to bring in?'
Spurs didn't spend wisely, though If Saints spend the money wisely they'll be fine, if they don't then there will be trouble They are a well run club though
Unless they do something unexpected, in the transfer window, they're nailed on imo. Never mind, it's a good away end there so I hope we play them early on when we'll take a good crowd down.
Dyche did a great job getting them automatically promoted, but I just can't see them staying up, as things stand You never know mind, thought Palace were absolute certainties for the drop and they managed to stay up As long as we don't go down I'm not too fussed as to who is in the bottom three
I know you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but he just doesn't look clever enough for the Premier League. I might be wrong but I think his head will be spinning after half a dozen games.
