I'm already bored with all the transfer chat. I'll just wait for the official announcements. I like N'Zog the player, but his attitude let him down badly last time he was here. Hopefully he has grown up a bit and is a bit more interested in listening to team talks rather than texting his mates! We'll see but I could see Whelan/Ashley relationship making this tricky.

And the Carroll debate rages on I see. The club wanted the 35m and that was the starting point for me. They knew they were going to have up his wage to reflect his rapid progress resulting in England honours. That is the normal process in football. I also have no doubt that Carrolls agent was using the Liverpool terms to get a better deal, and like Mr Ashley was mad keen for the transfer to happen. People moan about Carrolls greed, but it's the agent and Ashley who stood to make the most out of this deal relative to their roles. Carroll was going to be on 50K-80K plus regardless in the next few years. That is his market value.

Isnt Jonas a naturally right sided player?

so say if we did get zog back his place might not be threatened.

Zog and Marveaux competing for the left... Jonas and Barnetta for the right?

So were supposed to take your word for it about a player at another club, but not a player's ex-manager? <doh>

Why do people say this? Just because he's right footed doesn't mean he's a right winger, especially in the modern game. He'd be ****e on the right because he can't cross. That's not his game and it doesn't play to his strengths.

Does anyone think Young's sale to Man Utd could lower Zog's price? £9.65m according to the BBC. I don't know how Wigan could demand more than £9m after that.

Absolutely spot on. Jonas is a left sided player, he's all about cutting inside and running around a bit.

As far as Young goes, what a bargain that is. Although I can't see Whelan letting Mike take Zog at a 'reasonable' price. We'll have to pay top dollar.

Very true about Jonas, and anyway, N'Zogbia has been playing on the right for Wigan and cutting in onto his left foot. If Barton and Routledge leave (as is quite likely) we will need someone to play on the right side of midfield.

I also think that you are right about N'Zogbia's price. If Wigan **** about too much they could end up seeing him walk away for free at the end of next season.

I think Jonas is one of those players who you could play anywhere across the front line, left, right or as attacking central midfielder.

Would love him back here, was gutted when he left as he's a top class player, he can dribble, has pace and has a good strike on him. Whelan seems resigned to losing him and if his wish is to come back here, then i hope Pardew goes for him and Ashley gives him the money to do so.

Think i read somewhere that Villa and the bin dippers are also in for him too.

This is my first post, but anyway, here's my thoughts on the N'Zogbia situation, without a mention of Carroll in sight. Looking what some of the more respected local journalists have said, the deal is on 'hold for now' my thinking is that perhaps we will fork out for N'Zogbia, but not using the Carroll money, instead I think it will be from the Enrique deal. I think that the owners are looking to get the most out of selling Enrique, then use that money and the freed up wages to sign N'Zog, then they'll play Taylor and use N'Zogbia's experience by playing him in front to help him out defensively. So if they sell Enrique for £12m saving £60k p/w wages, they can sign and pay Taylor and N'Zogbia without spending a penny.

Just a thought but it would make sense, I can see us spending to buy Matiudi and Erdinc, Cabaye was effectively free, but I don't think the club will pay for N'Zogbia.

If Whelan has anything about him, he shouldn't charge us extra just because Ashley's a [NSFW]prick[/NSFW].

I agree, thought he was effective in his role against Chelsea at the end of the season.

As for N'Zogbia, I'd welcome his return. Very talented player, questionable attitude that has probably improved during his time at Wigan, and if we're his preferred destination, then I'd definitely put a bid in.
