I'm happy with that because he's just the kind of player Poyet wants in the side. Martinez is a good judge of a player and plays a similar style. He's happy to take the ball in tight areas and creates space for himself and other players. Much better on the ball than Gardner and back tracks which is a plus.
Nice cheap option in the right mould. Keep picking up these sort bargains and I can see us splashing the cash on a couple big signings. please log in to view this image
Nice to see some business getting done early. A better player than Gardner and may be on less money, I would think so coming from Wigan. Not a signing to set the world alight but plenty of Prem games under his belt, Wigan's player of the season last year and a bit different from our current midfielders. Good set pieces and if not a starter every game at least has something to change a game when coming on. No real injury issues through his career I know of and never caused any bother, could have done a lot worse for a free. Its a thumbs up from me.
He scores goals as well, including the Premier League, which we need. He can keep hold of the ball which was what let Gardner down.
