I was born just before the season started - Alice Cooper was Top of the Pops with School's Out as we drew 2-2 at Swindon.

Born in the close season, so I doubt they were doing anything except preparing for another season in Division 3....

As for #1? Roger Miller's "King Of The Road".

Well Chaps, I was born in1936, 8th.March! and I have been told in them days, pop charts did not exist! And who Rangers wher playing that day or that week I have no idea! But I am sure some bright chap will look all that up and surprise us all? good luck! I think the club should start up a over 75 club for all the fans who remember the good days way back in the 3thd. Div (south) days , when football WAS football? And the players played for the LOVE of the game, not the money. Lets face it what money? they got I think about £10 a week if they were any good! Maybe a little more if they played like Dear RODNNNNNNNNNNNNNNy and Stan the man! enough history for today, school is out! keep the faith! ye all!

Rather than being patronising about your age, James, I'll add that in that season, QPR finished third in the Third division south, behind Millwall and Bristol City. It was a good season, and so the chances are we were doing OK. However, we didn't quite do well enough to get promoted.....

As for music? The big artists were people like Artie shaw, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, and of course Hope and Crosby, so 1938 was far from a barren year where misuc was concerned.

I was another one born in the close season at the end of July. First game of the season saw us draw 1-1 at Brighton in the old division 3 south. Alma Colgen was topping the charts with Dreamboat, which stayed at number 1 for two weeks.
