Can't really find a generic discussion topic, so creating one instead. Today's news is that we are touting four of our French lot back to France, including notably MYM, Ben Arfa, Marveaux and Obertan. It's expected that Amalfitano is done anyway, whether he cuts the mustard at Dijon or not. :bandit:

So assuming these deals will happen, let's add to the mix that Debuchy has said "he's not worrying about his future til after the World Cup". That very much sounds like a man not playing for The Toon next year. So that's, of our first team, a right back, backup right back/centre back, RAM, LAM and dogsbody gone. On top of already needing at least two strikers, a replacement for Cabaye, a replacement for Jonas and a centre back anyway, we nw need to add at least three more? EIGHT players needed?!

    :1980_boogie_down:

Can't see it myself. Pardew's soundbyte of "it's going to be tough this Summer" don't bode well. Only Perez, a non-first teamer, seems likely when the window opens yet, as usual, other teams seem to have quietly gone about their business and brought in players before 1st June.

Wow, sorry to be depressing, but I use this forum as therapy.

Whilst we may be touting the four of them across the channel, we are actually looking for fees for Marveaux and Obertan - ridiculous asking for a fee when we really should be offering them as a two for one deal and we pay the buyer. <laugh>
So that's those two still here come September.

L'Equippe did mention Bordeaux as considering MYM yesterday, but, wages will be a big problem to move him on more than likely.
As for HBA, is he trusted in French football?

We don't really know what is happening behind closed doors, and the endless speculation from Journos with stories then put into their own words by one website after another just makes it seem more and more negative. The Window doesn't officially open until July 1st.

At this time of year me for its a break from being serious about NUFC, just have a good summer and don't let them get to you.
What's meant to happen, will just happen.

Don't forget as the song goes 'DONT BELEIVE WHAT YOU READ' its all bulls***.

If we just bring in the likes Sidwell, Saha and Colback and MYM, Ben Arfa, Debuchy, Remy, probably others leaving we are ****ed.

No one of sound mind could tell me we wouldn't have a massive relegation battle next season.

Though I don't mind losing MYM, HBA, Marv, Big Heed, and I accept Remy and Debuchy want better than us, I just cannot envisage a situation where we bring in the required quality to replace these players. It is slightly depressing but I have become kind of non plussed with it all and able just accept what will be will be.

This is the crux of it for me.

Though also would add, what does it say for the recruitment policy sanctioned by Ashley, and will he learn from this or is he too far away to do anything about it now?

I mean, the last 'rumour' I heard was we were now looking to leagues like Switzerland. Appreciate it's spurious, but imagine if we were? We can't get Ligue 1 players to adapt, what now? Well, we still need them to be cheap, so that's England, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Italy and Holland out. I know - Swiss players.....

What really scared me was this comment at the end of Mark Douglas' latest article:

Now this doesn't include Perez, but even then if we get rid of Yanga-Mbiwa how weak will we be in the CB department? Just Colo, Williamson and Taylor in senior terms. And if Colo gets injured again (or, if you prefer, homesick) then the thought of Taylor and Williamson fills me with dread.

Honestly, I couldn't give a fck. The club is being driven at full tilt towards the Championship, nothing we do is going to stop it.

I do believe we will sign players and not all of the rumoured departures will happen but who joins, who goes is very much up in the air at the moment. We are all understandably pessimistic at the moment but also manage to very easily get excited at new signings. Next season will be interesting but i am expecting more of the usual average ups and downs leading to another mediocre mid table finish.

Don't worry too much about that, Mark Douglas is a ****wit. They make everything up as they have no quality sources within the club for obvious reasons. The Chronicle and Journal have never been much cop. He constantly spouts **** like "I understand X is not on the list" or "I understand they are still a little way apart on valuation for y". Do you **** Mark, admit it, you haven't a ****ing clue and rely completely on a bunch of gullible/desperate NUFC fans buying into your utter nonsense.

It has filled me with dread all season with having to play one or two from Willo, Saylor or Mbiwa. Thankfully one of them (Willo) stepped up to the mark and did a decent job. Colo is 32 now. Its a great age for a defender but also one where they will have fitness issues. I'd love for us to get rid dumb and dumber (Saylor and Mbiwa) and go get a couple of proper reliable options. I think it is more likely we'll just sit on the 4 we have.

I would not be disappointed if we signed him - he plays left wing and got plenty of goals and assists in La Liga last season. Any signing from another league is going to carry an inevitable level of risk, in this case it seems to be one that Martinez at Everton thinks is acceptable. I'd have more faith in his opinion than that of a writer in The Mag.

Good move, that. Good option from the bench, they've got depth and just need someone who will grab the limited chances they get. With Sturridge, Sterling, Suarez, they aren't going for Remy.

Be interesting to see where Remy ends up. His CL dream looks a bit remote. I don't know if his attitude works for Arsene. Chelsea? Again, not sure he's a Mourinho player. City won't be after him, which leaves a move abroad. Is he going to be happy having to 'try' again for Spurs, Everton or Man U?

Lee Ryder makes a point about restoring the mentalities of both Ben Arfa and Marveaux could solve a lot of problems. Are they too far gone, do you think? Or is redemption possible?

I'm going to fall in the depressing middle - Pards doesn't want them, can't make them work but has no choice because he can't unload them either. I wonder if we're still being run in this "purple" model, where Ben Arfa essentially is a purple and we can't/won't bring in someone of similar ability until he's gone?

Bombarding my own thread this morning - just read from France Football and L'Equipe that a fee has been agree for Remy Cabella.

Also claims that Ayoze Perez is a done deal, will be confirmed officially once the final Tenerife match has been played.

12m euros the fee for Clement Grenier with Roma to lodge the first bid.

MYM won't move to Bordeaux due to wage demands.

Those players won't be restored under Pardew's stewardship. He obviously doesn't rate them and wants them moved on. Its a shame but Ashley has proven that unlike other clubs when the performances are wretched, he doesn't get rid of the manager but gets rid of players. We are stuck with the **** bottomfeeder manager for years.

I wonder what Cabella and Grenier will think if many of the French lads leave? Hopefully they will come, see it as a stepping stone, play decent and will no doubt be moved on in 18 months to a bigger club with ambition. Then again, they might say f**k it and actually move to a decent club instead and skip the bollocks of moving to us. I couldn't blame them at all.

I would have liked Rickie Lambert here... but then again, I'd take any striker at this point <laugh>

And nobody in their right mind would leave Southampton for Newcastle at this moment in time <ok>

I think I'm actually slightly beyond that now, to the point where I actually feel sorry for any fancy foreign players moving here. What a waste of their time. It's hard to shine and make this a stepping stone with the current strategy.

I'm hoping remy doesn't get any offers. We know the club want to buy him, and we know theres an 8 million pound buy out clause... I like our team with some pace going forward. I'd definitely prefer counter-attacking soccer like liverpool to a swansea level Tiki-taka or even hoofball
