Basically this means only Spurs and WHU rejects.
Welcome, Parker, Cole, Ferdinand, Dawson etc.

I do hope its just hot air.

Yeah because a 33 old player will have the same skill and hunger as he had 10 years ago. **** logic. For me this is one of the most annoying things about certain managers.

You must take risk when signing new players, recycling old faitfuls is stupid IMO

Good. Harry knows this league inside and out and he's right to stick with what he knows. Yes it would be nice if we could also blood some youngsters at the same time but its just not going to happen at this moment. Lets consolidate our position next season and then take it from there.

    One step at a time.

    I understand your thinking here

Redknapp will probably be looking to sign free or cheap experienced Prem players on 1 year deals. Minimum financial risks, and if it gets us survival then it's job done.

He's worked with Bale before. Worth a shot?

And then we have to replace them all again next season, leading to another 8-12 new players.

The trouble is, those players won't be cheap either, they will be looking for one last pay day.

Is this Harry's version of 'Never again on my watch'?

Let's face it. This is a difficult league to even survive in. We bought survival in first year last time - just. We've got promoted on sensible signings - just.

Surely there must be a half way that leads us to mid table obscurity in the PL for a few years (with perhaps a little cup run if that's not too much to ask?) before we can push on from there with a new stadium, training ground etc etc.

Its the reason why he stuck will his old reliables like Hill at left back and Dunne in the middle when everyone was clamoring for all manner of changes to the back.

The man knows his football. We'll be fine this season and I'm really looking forward to it.

Sensible enough. No more Johnny Foreigners (unless they are already a proven commodity in England).

Well I'm not sure he'd worked with Charlie Austin or Matt Phillips before and we signed them so it all sounds like a load of cobblers to me

He knew Austin since he was a lad, Wubba, being mates with his Granddad. And most of the players he knew last season were Premier League and he couldn't have got them.

Time to cut our Manager who's just led us back to the Promised land a bit of slack fellas.

Agree Flyer - we have been here before with players not giving 100% taking the cash for their last payday – let’s hope common sense prevails...
In essence we need to stay up and also put roots down for a future with players who will fight for the cause and stay at least 3 - 4 seasons and grow as a team

this might be a one step or two step plan by HR - time will tell...........

Step one get older experienced players in to try and keep us up and then start the build as PL club
Or buy potential good younger players and take the risk we might not survive in the PL
Either way we can all comment till the cows come home - but ultimately it’s out of our hands and we cheer the boys on regardless.............

Not sure that is what is meant. I don't think he will necessarily have had to have worked with them. He will want to know of them and their record in the English league e.g. Dunne. I am sure Harry has a good network of contacts that can vouch for a player's attitude.

Any man who's masterplan involves engineering a last minute win in a play off final has to be respected, nay worshipped. I'm amazed and shocked that there are any posts questioning his decision making on here.

Hold on, you might have a point......

err, no, his funny story was he's known Austin's grandad for years but only recently discovered that Austin was his grandson.

Redknapp has one year left on his contract, he may retire at the end of next season, but he knows he won't be offered a new one until we are safe. Not a recipe for avant garde thinking, and I can't blame him truth be told, no incentive for him to think to the future so why should he? If we can sneak a couple of Austin/Philips types in amongst the 'experienced' players he'll target I'll be happy. And I expect more of the same type of football next year as well, though droning out a 1-0 home win against Liverpool will be much more satisfying than against Birmingham.

What I do hope is that we freshen up the coaching team a bit, get some more ideas in. Bond and Jordan have been with Redknapp forever, they can't have anything different to offer, and WALLY DOWNES, who knows what state his brain is in?

Um... so survival...then what??? more of the same for the next season??

It's a silly approach because you never actually build anything.
