I too will be at Burton tomorrow to watch the England U21s so will try and say "Hi" if I can get close enough!
Whether someone says something in 1000 words or 2 words it shouldn't matter. The important thing is the meaning. RK answered a lot of our questions and I thought it was a worthwhile interview. The club board is not as naive as some would believe. It's obvious they've been looking for a replacement for some time and the delay between the end of the season and yesterdays announcement was purely contractual. The club won't sell players on the cheap. They're aware that we have the power in these negotiations because of the long term contracts Our immediate goal is European football (Ambitious if not uber Champions league ambitious)
Being realistic, if we don't sell our best players and successfully spend £30-40m on three or four players we stand a chance of getting up to 6th or 7th. An FA Cup would get us into Europe and be easier route than the league depending on the draw
Being realistic Dark Lord, we won't spend £30-40m and keep Shaw and Lallana; if they do stay, we could spend that much. If they stay I don't think we'll spend more than £15-20m
In which case FLT, 8th is the best we can hope for with Newcastle and one or two others bearing down on us
I think that RK's reference to doing things on our terms may be partially aimed at players....no good saying you want a move if we don't want it or the money isn't right.
He is hardly going to say no players are leaving, because then everyone is at his throat if they get an offer they can't refuse/the player forces a move.
I bet even a team like ManU would be reluctant to say no one is leaving....things change. The important thing is starting next season with a strong team...not necessarily the same personnel. Important thing (as RK says) is it is done on our terms for the good of Saints.
United couldn't stop Ronaldo leaving. Arsenal couldn't hang on to Fabregas or Van Persie. You really can never say never.
In his Echo interview he isn't willing to answer any question, just skirts around it then states how the club are moving on. I have no faith in him sofar, atleast when NC spoke I believed him.
Guy can do no right. Damned if does, damned if he doesn't. He should just give up now as some Saints fans will moan at him for anything.
I liked the strength of NC's leadership (as luckily I didn't work for him) and his entertainment values (very hard to get humour out of RK), but his interviews were designed to make him look like a God...full of sycophantic stuff. Also, his chance of getting us into the Champions' League are not greater than that of Kreuger just because he kept mentioning it. Kreuger has a hard act to follow, so let's hope he wins us over with achievements.
