Would you concider that a step up? As they play qualification for CL, or a step down from premier league?
Step down in my opinion, SPL is on par with the Championship, so it would be like taking the job at Cardiff next season....... Cannot see this happening, man if he didn't like the rain in Wales, he'll certainly not like the Snow blizzards in Scotland.......
4 or 5 teams in past few days have been linked to Laudrup..... but dont tell dai . A step up now imo .
He has been linked with every job that has come up which is part of the course but is always down the pecking order. I think he should opt for celtic as he cant surely **** them up and he will be assured of playing in Europe every season like he wants...
Wieghorst is a former Celtic player and has a lot of credit in that club. I don't find that position unrealistic for the two of them...
Step down Mikra, Scottish League is a shadow of its former self. Managers in that league come to England and not the other way around, Champions League is a bonus but should any Scottish team be allowed to not play qualifiers? At the end of the day Celtic and Rangers are almost always hammered in Group Stages and have had more than their fair share of 4-0 and even 6-0 drubbings, give or take a goal they score. To be honest if Celtic had to go through qualifying and played Arsenal in July to qualify then Scotland would have no Champions League teams, and most seasons it would be the same scenario.
Agree with Project. Scottish Prem is a big step down from Premier League. If Celtic joined Premier League I think they'd get relegated. In any case, Laudrup is one of about 50+ linked to the job. Every out of work manager gets linked to almost every job. It doesn't mean anything. He's an outsider in the betting and I don't think there's much of a prospect of him becoming manager of Celtic. Laudrup won't be managing one of the top clubs any time soon. I doubt he ever will. He's not a really bad manager, but just not up there with the best.
By the way, I'm the same plastic, but lost both the password to 606 and to my email, so had to set up a new account.
Step upwards in terms of playing in the CL ,a massive club with huge support ,as a comparison club v club then they're bigger than we could ever dream to be but playing in a league then a backwards step but if his attention span as some say lasts only for a season then why not .
No competition for Celtic to worry about in Scottish football so if you want to have a good CV then join them A massive gulf between the premiership and the Scottish top league....Celtic is the best they have got and even they would struggle in the championship to stay in the top half, but if its glory you are after then there is no better club to join...
Welcome back Plastic - wondered where you had gone. I like your no-nonsense approach. TIP - If you you make all your passwords 123456789 then you will always remember it. Simples. or aBcD1234 works well if they want lower case, upper case and numbers. I'm getting fed up with my email and bank accounts being hacked into though.
I could certainly see the benefits for both: * He would get experience of managing at a big club and in Champs league rather than UEFA. * There wouldn't be a real challenge from the league, so he could focus everything on preparing the team for the european games. * His approach towards movement and passing would maybe see them pose a real counter-attacking threat to compliment the sound defensive base. * His ability to draw cheap foreign imports would be a huge benefit to Celtic who are really boosting their meagre TV money with transfer income from deals like Hooper and Wanyama. What odds Pozuelo and Canas? They would be excellent signings for them if they were that keen to leave. He would probably ask himself whether he would be happy living in Glasgow - he strikes me as someone who very much looks at quality of life - and it is for that reason more than anything that I feel like he wouldn't do it. Although the point about Wieghorst is good - maybe Assistant Manager with an eye on replacing him after two years. P.S. Might be a good idea to post a "What would you do with the Scottish league if you were in charge?" thread. My idea would be to a) try and create a level playing field like the MLS (maybe with the league taking some control in signing players), b) promote loan links with the English prem (what if every team was boosted by 3-4 prem reserves and youth players?), c) I still think we should merge the league cups - maybe insert an extra round at semi-final stage (let's be honest - any Scottish team that managed to win the league cup would already qualify for Europe through their league - so the English league would never lose their spot in Europe).
I would term big by performances as well though, I will be first to concede the draw against Barca was good and their support is fantastic but when we played them they were distinctly a third rate club judging by their ability. We completely dominated them and if it was not a warm up match and had Bony played then we could have easily smashed four or five passed their keeper. This was in fact a topic on Talksport today, what makes a big team big? Can past glory be counted anymore and if so does that mean Tottenham, Wolves and West Ham are bigger than Chelsea, PSG and Man City? And then they spoke of support where in the Middle East some teams can claim to be the major regional power and have crowds up to 60,000... I found that odd, always thought that was for special occasion matches like derbies. Again I will concede our game against Celtic was friendly and they too were not going hell for leather but it was very clear to gulf in class between a Premier League club and a Scottish Premier League club. I would probably say Celtic only have their support left to claim to be a big club, how much longer can Scotland keep it's UEFA coefficient because if that drops then Celtic could be screwed massively, they just don't have the quality (or we could say their league) to beat the likes of Udinese, Arsenal, Liverpool etc in the 3rd Round of qualifying. Dunno if I am getting my opinion across clearly, let me know
