Thats interesting... Can you confirm that Millwall had a player called Foeke Orf during the distinguished reigns of.. John Docherty Bob Pearson Nigel Spackman Mick McCarthy Jimmy Nichol Stevie Claridge Mark McGhee Stevie Gritt Neil Harris etc... Because I definitely remember your fans telling these managers to bring this player on during games i.e: "Spackman, Foeke Orf"
When will Bob Peeeeters make his arrival at the Valley saying how he has always wanted to manage the top team in South London and then give us RDs master plan for next seasons survival ? Incidently CAFC phoned today to ask why I hadn't renewed my season ticket. Advised them because the football was cack & from what I've seen since the season ended next season will be even worse. I have never wanted to be so wrong in all my life.
I had a similar voicemail left from a lady on Friday, havent called back yet. I sent an email to Ben Kensell venting my frustrations and how these would have an affect on the commercial figures by which he is no doubt judged. I wasnt expecting this email to be productive in the slightest, but was so frustrated with decisions being made a club just felt the need to tell somebody! To his credit, Ben called me back and left a message. We are currently playing a very long winded game of phone tennis.
I e-mailed B.K about the way the club mis handled the Riga departure, and have had no reply. I regret stumping up for new STs, as the club's attitude towards customer service is worse than that of the local 99p shop. I am actually looking forward more to the away games next season. I get the impression that the club 'behind the scenes' is being run on a shoestring.
Agree, and no doubt the club will hide behind FFP, but in reality this is what you get when you have a person in charge whose prime objective has little to do with glory on the pitch.....
I can just about handle this if it's a short-term project, ie get us into the black then "pass on the baton" as TJ & MS put it. But even that is pretty risky; if JR had done as he was told and played the Eurotrash every week we'd playing be in L1 next season.
not often i agree with you, but yes - i wish i didnt fall for the "early bird" that isnt actually early bird pricing. i'd have definitely not bought one if i knew that hamer, dervitte and probably poyet were going. i actually feel conned and deceived. i wont be buying early next season, and if all we see are a bunch of SL rejects then i think i'll pass. i'm paying to see charlton, not SL. i'll go watch welling or bromley until RD f*cks off.
I have said it all along (to some criticism on here). I am happen to think that CAFC (founded in 1905) is quite a bit better than a holding pen /wash down zone for sundry Euro trash mercenaries. I can just about put up with it, nose peg applied, if we field a nucleus of Academy Brits AND have someone at the helm who has a bit of class about him (Jose Riga). I start to get the hump when I see stories about Thuram & Nego coming back, Poyet leaving, and a fat ex Millwall Belgium pub landlord plucked from the scrublands of Brussels obscurity and placed in charge for no other reason thatn his ability to say "why certainly, Roland". As Susan Boyle's Mum said on first sighting her progeny after birth, " this could turn out very ugly".
I think that's the best way to look at it, but I don't think he's here for the short term..? The money for Roley is with the future academy stars, and he can sit on them until they reach their full market value, which suggests Roley is happy to stay around a while yet.. Murray told us as much in the takeover introduction.... It could benefit our team in the short term, but personally I can't see any long term success with this model, especially if the network can't provide quality players to go with our youth...
It could be relatively short term since you wont see clubs paying money for graduates of a league 2 or conference league academy or parents putting their progeny into one. The academy is dependent upon the quality and performance of the first team so if one gets screwed the other wont generate the money either. In some respects a fall into league 1 at the end of the season could deliver lasting damage but could also see the back of R2D2.
The first team will have players from the academy... It's Roley's way, and I doubt we would be talking so much about late contracts regarding certain players if he'd been here earlier...
6 months is enough time to sort out a few academy player contracts. he should be good at getting them done, he owns 5 or 6 clubs
Precisely, what would be the point of him investing money into the academy, and then not get this fundamental part of it correct...
We should also be extending the contracts of players like Cousins and Wilson, who only have one year left. But RD does things HIS way. He's not a football man, but he expects professional football staff to adhere to his viewpoint. I would love to be a fly on the wall when the FESN are stuck in front of their computers doing their scouting. They may well be interns, that would be nice and cheap, and any teenage boy would love to do it.
