Liverpool have put a £7million price tag on winger Oussama Assaidi.

The 25-year-old has impressed on loan at Stoke City and manager Mark Hughes wanted to sign him permanently.

Liverpool, who signed Assaidi for £4m from Heerenveen, are also looking for £12m for striker Fabio Borini.

The Italian was a key player in Sunderland's Premier League survival, with Gus Poyet praising the Italian.

Borini featured in Liverpool's post-season friendly against Shamrock Rovers, but struggled for games in his first season with Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

    Yes or no?

Same as we paid for fletch and aj, yes from me, a bit rich but its not my money

Strikers are always at a premium and there'll be other clubs interested in Borini after last season.

He scored goals , in a poor team, when we were under real pressure.

If he really wants to be at Sunderland I'd pay around that for him ......... it's not a big risk as we know he can do a job for us.

Bringing in someone else for £8/9 million might prove to be a mistake if he doesn't fit in.

I suppose it depends on whether we sell Fletcher.

    I think it's odds on he'll go.

You always get a feeling when a player's time's up and that's now for Fletcher as far as I'm concerned.

Not for me like, might be the only one that thinks it but he's not a 12m pound striker in my eyes.

Take away his pens and he only scored a couple goals and seemed to go missing in a lot of games.

    My opinion mate?

I reckon we cut our losses when we stayed in the Premier League.
If we'd gone down we'd have lost multi-millions, had a fire sale to bring in money and cut the wage bill.

Staying up has changed everything and we now need to count our blessings, weed out those who can't apply themselves and spend money to bring in those who can.

This is no time to risk another relegation battle, we need to be brave and go for it.

I'd rather risk the club going down the leagues than be content to play safe and scrape survival every year.

We need a squad that can do well in the league but also go for the cups ........ we'll never win the league but a trophy would be nice.

Borini may be overpriced but spending less could be false economy, he can score goals from nothing.

    He'll no. Maybe £8-9m plus conditional add-ons maybe, but not £12m up-front.

There are bargains out there, the guys who's jobs it is to find them need to buckle up, and get out and find them.

How much did the likes of Michu, Bony, etc, cost? Why do other teams find these jewels in the mud?

It's too early, and before the World Cup, to start spending that sort of dash on one player. Why panic at the start of the process?

I think this is just an opening shot from Liverpool testing the water, I doubt we'd pay that much.

However, at least we now know they want rid so have the chance to do a good deal for the club.

We've wasted a fair bit on strikers, over the years, but at least this one looks like a real Premier League player.

Absolutely agree with this - although how the ****j the papers get to know a players price is beyond me - it could be speculation and bullshit.

£12m in clauses is a good deal IMO. Start with £8m or £9m and go from there I'd say.

A cool head is required here, we were saying similar things about Danny Rose last season at 10 m., we came up with Alonso who was every bit as good, so lets not be held to ransom or start to panic, there are a lot of players out there who can reach single figures in a season much cheaper than Borini. I would offer 10 m. with add ons if he is still unsold nearer the deadline. After all we have Whicks, Cocco and Fletch not to mention Jozy apart from a purple patch from one, we saw very little from any of them last season so lets hope for improvements, coupled with AJ and Giacc there should be goals in this squad. If we are to spend this sort of money ie 12 m. we need better.

Thankfully that'll not be anyone on here.

It's good that we know early that he's available. We can pursue other possibilities while negotiating with Liverpool.

Leaking a few offers for alternative strikers would keep the fee realistic.

I fancy we get him after the world cup for ~£10m (what Liverpool paid) plus add-ons.

I actually don't rate him all that highly. He scored some big goals but he didn't score all that many goals. I'd be looking at £7-8m and no higher.

Not alone in that mate ...... he's shown enough, for me, to suggest that with the right service he can finish.

His 'foils' this season didn't help him much and he had to do a lot himself.

Depends on who else we have or may get. I think Borini is worth a decent fee and certainly in the region of £8m. How much we need him will depend on (a) whether Fletch will get back to where he was (b) how well Altidore will fit in and (c) whether Scocco is as much a Borini-type player as he looks to me. At least Wickham looks worth his place at last...
