Ok I'm going to start a thread about this, before SB3 does one of his efforts! SB3 if you read this please don't start another thread about it, if you miss this and start your own I will merge it to this one.
I promised myself I wouldn't but "at least we have a manager that attracts interest" there done it !!
Plenty of good managers around, and out of work at the moment, to choose from who would do an acceptable job.
I agree but begs the question why are they out of work - its becoming so hard to fully fit the brief of club owners/chairmen - personally I think it might be a step too far for MP this early in his Premiership career - he took us over with players who two years previous were in League two and above or in the academy - Tim obviously didn't fit in with some at White Hart Lane otherwise why did they sack him he performed pretty well I thought - if he goes to WHL it promises to be a very different herd of cattle to muster.
I can highly recommend 'Ronnie' Barker. The way he nearly took us to the Conference suggests he may have a soft spot for saints
See what you are saying anti, but the thing that is nagging away at the back of my mind, is the apparent "power base" building of one of your directors - Les Reed. Why did he recently sack two Academy (?) coaches including the excellent long serving Jason Dodd ? I recall reading about Mr Reed in the press a while back, and from memory, it wasn't all positive. Is he the only director who has football experience ? I reckon that Tim Sherwood would do an excellent job as your new manager. He did a fine job for Spurs last season, and to my mind was extremely unlucky to be sacked. He is not high profile, but does seem to be able to motivate players - just look at the way he resurrected the career of Adebayor, which was going nowhere. He also handled himself in a very mature and calm way in dealing with the cretinous manager of Benfica last season, during the European tie, when he was acting in a very provocative and disrespectful manner towards him.
I dare you to go on their board and suggest Sherwood Woops. Actually don't, you'll never make it back alive!
I second Barker for Southampton! Anyone got his e-mail address? We can all put in a good reference for him!
Sherwood's win ratio was the best ever by a Spurs manager in the Premier League at 59%, then Villas-Boas at 53% and Harry at 49%. It's a poison chalice but I suspect he may have seen it as less poisonous than the one at Southampton under their new regime. I think our stripey friends are going to see some asset stripping, especially as there is now less reason for their young star players to stay.
Am I the only one who thinks Maurcio jumping ship at the first opportunity and without any hesitation is karma for the disgraceful way they treated Adkins?
I think the general consensus seems to be, that he left because players were going to be sold instead of more coming in. So whoever takes over has a job on their hands.
It appears he has taken with him his backroom staff of 3, and presumably the geezer who used to translate for him.
