    Where does that leave Butner? We'd of been better off offloading Evra and having Shaw as 1st choice and Butner 2nd choice. Evras probably on big money just to sit on the bench, seems silly to me :biggrin:

    We've just lost Vidic and Ferdinand. What Evra will bring is vital experience to the team. And some continuity.

    Buttner is a good player, I think he did well when he was called upon last season. He's not world class, but he's a decent player. I'd rather him than an ageing Evra as back up, as Evra's legs have gone.

    Evra was a world class fullback in his prime, but he's shocking nowadays, and was probably one of our biggest problems defensively last season :biggrin:

    Evra will not be first choice IMO and so this is not a bad move at all. Evra has suffered due to being overworked. If we were to get shaw then we have a very good pair to cover that position.

    On a serious note, both are not good enough. Maybe being second choice and having VG may boost Evra's performance.
