So RD is listening to Phil Chapple rather than FESN. Maybe the nightmare scenario will not happen.

Average signing to me, not going to score a hat full of goals, can see him being a similar signing as Chris Iwelumo when we signed him. Probably better then we have at the moment though

£500k is way too much for COG

Average player, I suppose 500K for a Champ player who has scored 15 goals is about the going rate these days...
Better than what we have, isn't saying much is it..?

He's always impressed against us, and as IWABTO says, it's probably the going rate for a striker who scored that many goals (same as Le Fondre, though he played more).

It all depends on how much is available. You'd hate to think this was the majority of the budget, but if it's one of 4/5 signings of similar value then we could be putting together a decent team. It's just I'm sure RD could save some money by getting Morro and Poyet secured months ago.

Agreed, O'Grady is a better striker than the collective tat Church, Reza & Obika. If he stays fit he will score goals at Championship level. The timing of this news is welcome after the Riga Fiasco.

Dont know what to make of it.

Positive in that he is domestic based, will be more of a threat than Church.

Negative in that I dont really rate him. His goal record is not great and has had more loans than Greece so is a bit of a journeyman. Have not yet forgiven him for the cynical challenge which ended Wiggins season.

He is 28 and at 500k it is almost certain we will not recoup this were we to sell him on, doesnt exactly fit into Roley's youth policy either. Also, looking at his past clubs he has never played further south than Leicester and players tend to stick to certain areas of the country. All in all, I just cant see us signing him.

Am well aware of how many he scored last season. Price is still too high.

If we're spending £500k on a striker, I'd prefer someone better and younger.

Give us a few names then <ok>

(cue a mention for a striker who has scored 95 goals this season in 5 games for Galway U-16s....)

Barnsley fans reckon the fee is too low. I thought we only signed network signings.:emoticon-0110-tongu

I don't have a huge problem with signing O'Grady, just that the price is too high. If it was £200k I'd think a decent deal. £500k is around the price we sold Kermorgant for, and YK is a better player imo.

Wait for the transfer to fall through.

By the way, is there any way you can talk to me without throwing a stupid little dig at the same time?

I'd imagine it was up to 500k. But that's just a guess.

You sure he didn't say, "I'd rather sign Paul O'Grady"
