My stunned disbelief was instantly overwhelmed by the rush of unadulterated joy. Hoilettâs determination, Zamoraâs precisely placed shot, Grantâs despairing dive, the bulging of the net, they were all lost in a blur. As Zamora raced towards a section of QPR supporters, demolishing a corner flag on route, before being engulfed by his jubilant team mates, the eastern half of Wembley Stadium erupted. The tension which had dominated the previous 90 minutes was instantly expelled as the sea of blue and white celebrated with a thunderous roar. Isolated outbreaks of âPigbagâ were lost in the excitement before everyone came together to toast the goalscorer with chorus after chorus of âOh Bobby Zamoraâ. Voices were stronger than ever, hands were reaching for the heavens, flags were waved triumphantly, I had to pinch myself to check that I wasnât dreaming. No, this was real, this was Wembley Stadium, this was QPR. Read on .... http://rollercoasterranger.wordpress.com/2014/05/26/just-another-day/
Brilliant Roller, read it directly it bounced into my inbox....I get informed now whenever you submit...I am on your mailing list But just beautifully put...... just another day on the rollercoaster. Lets hope this is an upward journey now, and not a rise before a plummet
Bloody magic, as always Roller. I've said it before, you should write professionally. Even if you don't want to go into books, maybe a monthly feature in the match-day program?
Of all the many great days your relations will have had at Wembley with the Gooners I can guarantee you none would have felt quite like ours did on Saturday. Oh, and the greatest noise I have ever heard from a big crowd - that of the Olympic Stadium as Mo Farah rounded the last bend of the 5k - has now been easily surpassed by the magnificent roar of the Rangers fans in response to that goal.
Another great piece by Roller that's befitting of the day. It describes the range of emotions felt during those few hours perfectly. Nice one mate.
That's a superb piece Roller. Put's my effort into the shade, although I am glad that I copyrighted the "Aguero moment" analogy, or else I reckon you may have thought of it too!
Another beautifully crafted piece Roller. The moment the ball hit the net was an experience no-one who was there will ever forget, that piece describes it perfectly...
Brilliant Roller, summed up the day and emotions perfectly. To see grown men hugging other grown men that they'd never set eyes on before the game was a sight to behold. At full time I was struggling to hold back tears of joy, but hey, just another day at QPR!
The Rangers supporters leapt up and down, danced, hugged strangers, screamed and cried. Yes, I did all of those except cry. I was in a total state of disbelief, afraid I would wake up and find out it was but a dream. Great piece as usual Roller.
Great read Roller and totally represents the day for the multitude. Good to see you at hennesseys too. On the Tarmac now, goodbye England til the next QPR adventure.
Super piece Roller....have read it a few times now and still get a tingle down the spine just recalling Bobby's goal and the noise that erupted from our end of the ground......
Thanks Roller. It's great to re-live the day whether in audio, video or written word. Superbly evocative piece.
It was good to meet you briefly Ian, on the train journey from Hennesseys to Wembley Way, where we lost each other, have a safe journey home. Top report Roller, sums it up. I'm still in shock TBH, the moment that net bulged is etched on my mind. I couldnt quite believe it. And yes, I did shed some tears.
Thanks Roller. That encapsulated exactly how we all felt. The only thing I would add is that the goal was totally unexpected. And we all knew it was in from the moment Zamora connected with it. I'm glad you mentioned Hoilett's part in it. He has been rightly criticised for his decision making all season. The last two decisions he made in this game were spot on and set up the chance. I'll bet I wasn't the only one who looked at the ref after the ball had hit the back of the net.

A great summary of our day Roller. When the players finally left the pitch I slumped back in my seat totally shattered. Whilst thinking that I am getting too old for all this exhaustion and emotion I remembered some of the the hurt and dissapointment of being an R for 59 seasons. It was a very sprightly Wandle who bound down the steps to join the celebrations heading for the station. Roll on season No 60.
A great personal account which superbly captures the emotions of "the moment". I can fully relate to the report despite not being being there. However, it must have been truely awesome to personally experience it! Let's hope that there will be opportunities in the near future to eclipse it!
Excellent, just excellent Roller. Really enjoyed the read, took me back to Saturday Even felt the pain in my stomach reading through the Derby pressure when we were ten men. Excellent piece mate. Sorry about not meeting you at the Crown and Sceptre afterwards. When I walked out of Shepherd's Bush Market station I met Tooting and his crew. And as we were walking along desperate for a pint we first found the White Horse full and then the Queen, we were just happy we managed to squeeze in at the Conningham. So we sung, drank and danced the night away, fantastic night. Ooohhh Bobby Zamora, ooohhh Bobby Zamora
Great write Roller. All the excellent descriptions on here make it feel almost like I was there. And much better in fact due the result, than the 3 occasions when I was at the old Wembley watching us in 82 and 86.
