This may be greeted with laughs, but what about Avram Grant? He has constantly proven to be an excellent manager (proven at Chelsea, by contesting the Champions League Final in Moscow I recall), and could well be interested in the post. I think Avram Grant or Paul Clement would be my choice.

It was a hobby, as it is with anyone who buys a football team. It was a cheap purchase, but he went on to inject a hell of a lot more.

Well, since boy's (meaning "boy is") and boy's (the possessive) are indistinguishable, and the latter is certainly not two words, contractions like that are normally considered to be one word (indeed MS Word's word count feature counts them as one word).

You should know better than to try and out pedant me ;)

Hmm, I'd probably have gone with "out-pedant".

    ;)

The amount injected is trifling compared to the increase in value and this would have been set out in the famous 5 year plan. The stuff talked about to the public is the nice bits we want to hear, do you believe for a second that there was not a detailed financial plan to support this which would also show the expected impact on the clubs potential resale value?

It really isn't. How much do you think the new training ground has cost? How much have we spent in transfer fees over the past five years?

But that is money that can be recouped through the sale of the club - it's an investment in the same way that putting an extension on a house would be to you or I. And the money spent on transfer fees has largely, not all, come from prize and gate money.

How much has actually been injected to the club and compare this to the value of the club today.....I'd be amazed if they aren't looking at a return that is at least double what they have put in.

I think it would be boys' not boy's as it is plural

It's the boy's birthday. The boy's two today.

    Not necessarily: "The boy's book"

It would be boys' if it were plural though.

    Good example of both forms.

This is so much more fun than talking about Pochettino isn't it?

Do you think Markus intended to sell the club on? Because I sure don't.

Correct. Never understand this struggle with apostrophes...it's not that people leave them out, so much as they use them like a scatter gun.

Used for contractions such as it's = it is, can't = can not.
Used to indicate possession before the 's for singles such as a boy's and after the s' for plurals such as boys'.

Is never used when the s merely indicates a plural such as orange's...greengrocers are particularly bad at this.

Grammar has a purpose: clarity. I don't even mind if people aren't perfect at it (heaven knows, I'm not), but people should use the bare minimum to avoid confusion. Some twitter entries are practically undecipherable...though that could be a good thing. :)

Bit of a moot point really. Putting an extension on a house increases its value whether you plan to sell it or not.

Well yes, but its value is pretty meaningless to you unless you want to cash in.

I don't know whether Markus intended to sell on or not, but Nicola probably sold it to him as 'can't lose' scenario. I never understood why there wasn't a queue of people wanting us.

But it won't be to whomever inherits the house.

At some point he, or whoever it passed to, yes.

I don't believe for a second that he simply poured money in with the intent that there would be no benefit to the clubs value and / or future earning power - do you?
