One of the traditional pleasures of being a football fan in the summer is speculating on which players you will be signing. We at Charlton are now denied that pleasure, almost uniquely in the football league. We will of course be signing players, but they won't be British Championship standard players or in all probability players we know. They will be Network players or obscure Euro trash punts, signed to make the owner some money. What a sad state of affairs. After the Riga fiasco I now wish I had not bought STs for next season.

If we do sign some British Championship standard players I might feel differently. Selling Pope really will be another nail in the coffin in terms of recognising the Club we all used to support.

Vol I agree with you 100% it's heartbreaking what's happening to our club.
Can't believe RD dispensed with Riga after keeping us up.
    Fiasco is the right word

if we sell pope and thuram comes back i'll be ringing up asking for a refund on my season ticket. my missus aint coming this year so that's one minus about going, then every game i go i'll be away from my newborn so there's another. the way we look like we're being run by whats happened so far under the douch makes me already just want to wait it out until he f*cks off.

biggest laugh we had of the summer was when misses greenwich asked if i wanted the fathers day tour of the valley. funding the douch we wont be, going nandos we will be.

Do we have, or envisage having anyone on the management team that has any knowledge of Championship standard players..?

The poor chap has gone insane with grief, stress and humiliation.

Normally I approach anything Vol posts with garlic, crucifixes and silver bullets. It is ironic therefore that when he finally posted something that was light-hearted, witty and unembittered, the moderators rapidly closed the thread.

Interesting point. I wonder if you are allowed to claim ST refunds based on the Ronseal principle.
RD hasn't delivered what was said on the tin.

In Super's defence, he had to close the thread following a complaint from Betty in the Sparrows Lane canteen. She was concerned that I had outed her as Ponders contact.

PS: 2 big signings to be announced today ...

So do we envisage these two having a say with our recruitment of Championship standard players..?

Hopefully Ben Roberts will have an input into the goalkeeping position, but I can't see Damien Matthew having much say in recruitment.

In all honesty I can't see what input Ben would have in Pope's future, if RD wants the money Pope will be sold.

If Ben Roberts tells RD that Pope's value will increase dramatically over the next season or two surely RD will listen to him? Mind you that's just as logical as keeping JR as manager, which didn't happen. Do we have a megalomaniac running the network? Time will tell?

Have patience, it is early doors. Not many clubs have recruited yet. You will see Bob the bodybuilder getting the job and then the bodies will start coming in.

i'm not so confident. we've had ample time to sign up decent players for nothing and we've let it pass. its natural that good players get tied up early - what we're doing now with poyet and morrison is not natural.

Problem with 6' 3" Bob the Builder (from his past history at management) is that he seems a bit of a Cowboy.

It's about time American management methods were brought in at the Valley.

I guess you must Work got rolly considering you know so much. Don't see many other clubs signing lots of players currently. Sick of doom and gloom on here why don't you judge the situation when new season starts
