Who realistically would you like us to sign for next season?

My view is we need at the minimum a quality central defender, a midfield playmaker, a proper defensive midfielder and a striker.

As back up we need a second decent keeper, a right back and a couple of midfielders.

It's often a case of promoted teams raiding the Championship cherry-picking the best players of rivals who didn't go up, there are several young, 'hungry' players that would complement some experienced PL players to strengthen our side. You all saw Derby's team yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if two or three of those players were subject to bids from the three promoted teams, so who would you like to see us go for?...

Must admit I'm not sure about Morrison, Caulker is a good call...

Wouldn't be surprised if Harry tries for Dawson...

I'd go for Marc Albrighton, released by Villa this week-though I suspect Leicester may have their eyes on him.

Is Lampard worth a punt? He is old but his commitment could not be questioned.

    Lescott at the back?

Leicester have already signed Albrighton. I think Frank will stay at Chelsea...

Lampard and Lescott...not for me, we have to look forward and buy younger players who can step up, not older players on the way down. I know it is riskier as the younger players may not step up enough, but if they do, the benefits are seen long term.

If we take on more older and experienced players - and personally, I'd prefer that we focus on the Austen and Phillips equivalents outside the Prem, then he has to be exceptional and with a good injury-free record.

Of the more mature types the only one I would take is Lampard, still an exceptional footballer

I think we'll probably try for Rhodes, Blackburn wouldn't sell him to us before as we were in the same league, but now they might cash in. I think Harry will try and get some experience in though, I just hope its on short term contracts.

But I think we'd all be wise to take a holiday from football now, we need to regroup and get our level heads back. Let's not spend the next 4 months torturing ourselves on idle speculation, just enjoy the summer and start looking forward to it all again in August.

We need more young players, our squad is too old. That fair haired Derby youngster who dived to win a pen yesterday, would be a good start.

Thomas Ince free transfer would be top of my list
    Cook- centre back at Bournemouth
    Fan of Caluker as well
    Cresswell from Ipswich
    Ridgewell- on a free transfer
McCormack from Leeds- or worth a try for Ings but unlikely
Rhodes maybe but he's too similar to Austin so couldnt play with him so dont think it would be good value
    Snodgrass or Nathan Redmond

Yesteday was the most amazing day and need to do things right now and make the most of it with sensible buys and build things the right way

Sidwell, Barry, Parker, Cole, Rio etc
Basically anyone who's massively paid, old and can't perform.

Please don't go down that route again.

Up front, try McCormack and Rhodes, I'd even try and get hooper but for less than the yellow vermin paid for him.
I just want players under 28 who aren't massively overpaid. Someone that we can sell on if they keep improving

More Austins, Philips, Yuns, less AJs, Henrys, hughes, Jenas, O'Neil's etc

3 at the back (replace, Dunne, Hill, BAE)
3 in the middle (Another LW & RW and depending on Ali another in the centre)
2 more up front (not sure about Doyle, have we signed him?)
1 or 2 GK if Greeno doesn't resign.

    Otherwise I wouldn't change a thing.<whistle>

Edit: Having re-read this I'll add Hitchcock as he be like a new signing and he won't take a squad place due to age. Also Sutherland if ready.

    We will need
    GK x 2, maybe 3 if green doesn't resign
    LB x 1 plus Yun
CB x 3 plus Onuoha, Dunne will be sold to champ team
    RB x 1 plus Simpson
CM x 3 plus Barton, henry won't make the 25, x2 if we resign faurlin
    LW x 1 plus Traore
    RW Hoilett plus philips
    AM x 2
    CF x 3 plus Austin.
    1 utility player
That gives us 25 plus hitchcock who doesn't need to make the 25.

Its a massive job. One that I really dont want the current manager to do. 17-18 new players!
