...critically deconstruct the following extract: "Ipswich City sounds stupid," says Ipswich fan Tim Edwards. "ICFC is horrible. It sounds like a DIY store." He says he wouldn't want city status, even if it meant catching up with their biggest rivals Norwich City. "Norwich has four things they can lord over us - a cathedral, an airport, it's a city and they are in the Premier League. We are only bothered about the Premier League and we are confident that won't last for long." Source: BBC News, 2010: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-13841482. BBC; UK. A total of 30 marks are available.
"ICFC is horrible. It sounds like a DIY store." Does it!? Sounds like a pretty ****ty DIY store to me. We also have a castle.
I think I've spotted where some marks are available. The above quote should read Norwich HAVE four things they can lord over us - Grant Holt, Wesley Hoolahan, Paul Lambert and a magnificent 5-1 victory at Portman Road .
Steve Bruce will have him in his Mackem dungeon soon, by all accounts. Do we get an extra point for that as Bruce is an ex-canary ?
I like you style Cromer! If Sunderland stump up the £12Million and Connor wants to join them (which I doubt very much) he will be in their Cellar! Personally I want him to stay and there is no financial imperative for him to be sold but if Liverpool come in with £10 or £12 Million I reckon he will be sold.
I believe that the grammar in the original article was correct . Norwich 'has' is correct. I have You have but a city 'has'. You could say Norwich people 'have'... I'm boring myself
this might give you a steer as to what the ambition of IFTC is for the season - sell and cash in, or keep hold of Conor and see what he does. then again you could get some decent replacements with £10-12m, but PCs cellar would be empty....
Well CM I think if we get an offer from Liverpool in the region of £12 Million he will be on his way and I will be gutted to lose him. The other downside would be that clubs we approach for players will know about our windfall and will try and mug us over! I say keep him at all costs and allow him the chance to pair up with Chopra. Awesome strike partnership!
you're right about other clubs would know how much you'd get for him, guess that's why undisclosed fees are often the norm it's going to be an interesting few weeks for you
Similar to what Peterboro did to us over Mackail-Smith. Surely the point of signing Ellington & Chopra suggests that deep down, you know Cwick will be off before the season starts ?
It's not really on my radar to be honest, I think the whole reason people move to East Anglia is that they don't want to live in a sprawling city. But if it ever did happen I don't see why the name would have to change - I think it'd remain ITFC.
Not really, I started working for one of your 'king sponsors this week, so now every hour feels like a day Anyhow, the new one is more appropriate to our new Premiership adventure
