Amazing player, and so much quality behind him to lay on the chances. Argies+Neymar is 66/1 :yikes: I may lay a couple of quid on that too, though I think this world cup may too early for him to win the Golden Boot but with that team around him he's in with a shot.
he's better for Brazil than Barca, he could have a shot but would be a major shock to me. Worth £3 though, still a belting meal out and some canny 'afters'. Ha.
I'll put 7 on Argy+Aguero and my other 3 on that. Bout 200 quid return on each. Rest of my budget I'll lay when the Tournament starts.
Aye, be a lot of money to be made on goals under 2.5 in the heat with the Euro teams. Fortunes. Betting savvy.
I was thinking along those lines fella, music to my ears now you've mentioned it. 2.5? is that across a treble then? I get tempted by the goals under 1.5 bets but must admit that I don't know international footy like I know our domestic footy so under 2.5 would be much safer. Can't wait me.
Under 2.5 is not usually good enough odds for singles, and World Cup, never go above a double, I go singles, £10 singles. Tournament football will piss all over trebs and accies, nailed on.
I'm living in Hong Kong at the moment will go see the lads and report back, need to check dates, anyone on here going?
Brazil look a solid side defensively these days and they have a bit more power and presence about them up front, like you say the Argies have an unreal attacking line-up but they're weak as piss at the back. I agree it's probably going to be between one of them, though ze Germans are always in with a shout of course.
yeah, Brazil have an incredible defence now, Marcello, Silva, Marquinhos, Alves. You could argue that's the best in the world, certainly up there.
Hong Kong Sevens: Black Cats into quarter-finals Published: 24 May, 2014 by Stuart Vose Youngsters unbeaten during group stage in Far East. Sunderland have successfully navigated what Kevin Ball described as the toughest group in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens to book their place in the quarter-finals. All the group games were played on Saturday, with the team - made up of members of the Black Cats' development squad - emerging unbeaten. They will face Barclays Premier League counterparts Aston Villa in the quarter-finals on Sunday, with the game kicking off at 12.15pm local time (5.15am BST). Sunderland's Group A campaign began with a 0-0 draw against local side Kitchee before Liam Agnew scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over HKFC Captain's Select. Results elsewhere meant that Ball's side needed only a point against Chelsea to progress, and they came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw thanks to Martin Smith's goal. Kitchee emerged as group winners, with Sunderland finishing second to book their place in the last eight. “The performances have been very good and I think we've grown into the tournament,” Ball said after the day's play came to an end. “It's been a really good day and the lads have stuck at it. In the first game we faced a Kitchee team who had some experienced players and that made for a good game. “Perhaps we only did enough, but they went on to beat Chelsea later on so it was a good result. “We could have scored in the first few minutes but we knew there was more to come. “The 1-0 win in the second game got us going, and it was a great goal from Aggers to win it. “We knew we only needed a draw against Chelsea and went behind early on. “We played well, though, and Martin Smith made a great run and finished well for the equaliser. “The lads went for the win rather than sitting back, but there was almost a sting in the tail as Chelsea hit the crossbar near the end.” He added: “Aston Villa have won all their games so far so it will be a tough game in the quarter-finals and they tend to do well here. “We've got a minimum of two games ahead, which is great.” The losers of tomorrow's Main Cup quarter-finals will be entered into a secondary Shield competition, which starts at the semi-final stage. The third and fourth-placed teams from each group are also in action on Sunday in the Plate tournament. HONG KONG SOCCER SEVENS - MAIN CUP QUARTER-FINALS Newcastle United v Rangers Manchester City v HKFA U-23 Kitchee v HKFA U-21 Aston Villa v SUNDERLAND
Good on em, would love to see more given a chance in the coming years. Martin Smith one to keep a close eye on.
Black Cats bow out in semi-finals Published: 25 May, 2014 by Stuart Vose Youngsters impress again in Hong Kong Soccer Sevens. Kevin Ball paid tribute to his side after Sunderland bowed out of the Hong Kong Sevens in the semi-finals. The Black Cats reached the last four for the fourth successive year before losing to eventual champions Manchester City in extra time. Having gone unbeaten in the group games on Saturday, Sunderland were paired with Aston Villa in the last eight. Villa boasted a 100% record, but it was Ball's side who came out on top thanks to well-worked goals from Mikael Mandron and Tom McNamee. Mandron stepped off his marker to score after good work from David Ferguson, while McNamee found the bottom corner with an outstanding shot after Andrew Cartwright had put the ball across the box. The semi-final against City – played in scorching heat – was a titanic battle, as Mandron fired Sunderland ahead before Martin Smith restored the advantage with a smart finish. However, City came back to win 3-2 in extra time before going on to defeat local side Kitchee in the final. “The lads were brilliant today,” Ball said afterwards. “We beat an Aston Villa side who were one of the tournament favourites and had won all three of their group games. “We went into the game with a plan and it worked. Mika and Tom's goals were great. The lads fancied their chances in the semi-final because they'd done well. “For one of City's goals, Scott Harrison had a great shot unbelievably saved by the goalkeeper, the ball unfortunately broke to the half-way line and they went upfield and scored. There were some excellent performances from the goalkeepers. “You can't take anything away from the players. To reach the semi-finals was great; we felt with the way things were going it might be our year, but it wasn't to be.” Ball added: “The trip has been fantastic, for numerous reasons. Some of the players haven't been away from home to this sort of environment before. “Then there's the heat – it's been very hot and humid. It's been a great experience for them.”
