Well P3 just finished, with the circuit being tight and hard to overtake, whoever takes pole will have an advantage, but for me it's not just mercedes, red bull and Ferrari have a chance here as it's not massively about straight line speed. Who else watching qualifying and the race tomorrow?
Forgot all about qualifying will put it on now, but I am at the Cricket tomorrow at Durham so will miss the live race. Will watch it when I get back.
But isn't the Monaco race one long ****ing convoy? No overtaking, it's all about the qualifying. Where's the fun and excitement in that?
I'm a bit of a fan of Formula 1 but in all honesty this event is the most pointless on the Formula 1 calendar. No excitement, no noise, no overtaking, just pointless.
The closeness of the track, the precision required. The different strategies, the graining of tyres on super soft tyres. It all happens here, love Monaco like
Local Perth lad, Daniel Ricciardo will be getting my support. Always nice to see a local lad do well, and stick it to that ****in German.
Have these boring ****ers started overtaking these days or is it still won and lost on pit lane tactics?
Love it all. Mercs miles ahead but look out Nico, Lewis is not a happy bunny. Bring it on! I'm both a petrolhead and technophile so GP is the ultimate for me. Geekfest it is.
I think Nico knew what he was doing there, dodge pot. Hamilton will want revenge, you can tell how pissed off he is
This season with the turbos and more torque has been a lot better for the viewers. Only drawback is the sound but it doesn't bother me that much. Monaco has always been on strategy, but hopefully it will be a bit more exciting with the new tech as its a lit more about the drivers skill than the cars (even though McLaren are miles ahead at the minute). But if you have watched it in the past and found it boring, I would probably wait for another race, as I doubt much will change for Monaco.
Nico Rosberg claimed pole position for the Monaco GP but is under investigation by the stewards after controversially running off the circuit on his final flying lap, a incident which effectively ended team-mate Lewis Hamilton's chances of toppling him. Eight years on from Michael Schumacher's infamous 'parking' incident at Rascasse, when the German was judged to have blocked the circuit in a bid to protect his provisional pole, Rosberg is at the centre of a similar controversy after Having held provisional pole at the end of the opening Q3 laps, Rosberg was attacking Mirebau but locked up into the braking zone and went down the escape road. Although off the circuit, the incident prompted the yellow flags to come out - meaning all oncoming drivers had to slow down. Hamilton was among those and although the Briton did clock the fastest first sector of all, he backed off thereafter and therefore ended up second. With the Briton having caused a stir on Thursday by claiming in an interview that the "hunger is different" between himself and Rosberg owing to their contrasting upbringings, the bristling title rivalry between the pair was already under the spotlight before qualifying's dramatic conclusion. Rosberg is now under investigation by the stewards and, conducting an immediate post-qualy straw poll in the pitlane, Sky Sports F1's Ted Kravitz reported: "I have spoken to three or four team bosses and four or five engineers and every single one of them in this pitlane thinks that was a deliberate move from Nico Rosberg. One said that 'it was 100% deliberate' another said that 'you could see the way he was driving that he was angling for a spink like that' and the other said 'he knew he can't do it at Rascasse, that's been done before'." Even before the official investigation was announced, Martin Brundle said Rosberg's incident had made it "a bit of a hollow pole." With the yellow flags compromising the end of Q3 for all the remaining ten runners, Daniel Ricciardo again outqualified Sebastian Vettel as the Red Bull challenge to Mercedes failed to materialise. The Ferraris will share the third row, Fernando Alonso outqualifying Kimi Raikkonen by a massive seven tenths on this occasion, with Jean-Eric Vergne a superb seventh as both Toro Rossos made thew top ten.
it's them Jarmans, sneeky buggers they are. I think the sound this year is great tbh. You can here so much more going on like tyre squeal, turbos whistling. Sad I know.
I love the new sound. Loved the old one too for it's raw power but this new sound tells you so much more about how they are driving. I think this season has been great tbh with all the changes. I know Mercedes are miles ahead, but we've already had better racing than the last few seasons combined IMO.
Be a real interesting battle tomorrow, so looking forward to the start and that first corner. It really is starting to become a real Senna v Prost style challenge with these two.
