I follow all the Conference sides on twitter so I can keep tabs on their signings etc.

    We are so behind <doh>

Every tweet from all of the official twitter pages of these Conference clubs is nothing but positive stuff. Even though the season is over they are already positive about next season.
Not ours. We should be lucky to get a tweet about the car boot sale at the mem car park.

Around 8 or 9 Conference clubs have already signed new players.
We have only had a scholar sign a contract that was offered. We are still waiting on Santos and Brown if they will sign their contracts or leave us.

Nearly all Conference clubs have already completed their pre season fixture list are are ready and can plan for these games with plenty of time available.
We have got just Bath, Yeovil & Coventry. Still waiting on 3 or 4 more at a guess. Lack of forward thinking and planning.

I hate being negative about our club but just observing twitter, we are so behind the rest!

It really could make or brake the season. Hopefully DC has been going quietly about the business of recruiting and will unveil a clutch of players all at once.

Clarke has been saying that he expects to complete his signings by the end of next month - so that means he'll have a very busy June.

Let's hope he knows what he's doing and our bloody useless board back him in the market.

That's too much trust to be given I'm afraid. DC should be visibly recruiting NOW and Higgs et al whom got us in this mess should be sorting out positive PR and giving out positive vibes about the club, players and forget about talking about the blasted UWE stadium IMO.

I'm going with a positive response to this thread ...

You all know about the hare and the tortoise, well who's to say that all these signings were n't agreed before the end of the season, they could be loan deals made perm. Most contracts expire on 1st June, I believe so we might have deals in the pipeline ready to announce in the next week or two.

Our PR is pants but better to say nothing than rave about this signing or that and then not get our man (Constable) or let out man give us the run around all summer (JJOT) waiting for a better offer.

Would be great if we knew who was staying but we have to trust DC has it covered otherwise the game against Bath next year will be a (non) league game not a friendly

I'm feeling quite positive about the new season more so then last season anyway. The Independent Forum is just all negative on there I'm mot sure what some the fans are expecting. We have to have faith and hope otherwise what's the point in supporting the team

Most other Conference clubs aren't completely rebuilding like we are, so I can understand why Clark is keeping his cards close to his chest while he gets the right blend of players.

Interesting what you say about The Independent Forum '79, but don't you think you need the buliding blocks, a strategy and some fresh ideas to begin turning things round after four years of continuous failure ? Just signing a player here and there ain't going to do much - remember the Buckle pre-season ?

Message from a Pompey fan; we were totally rebuilding last year and seemed to be panic buying to just have a squad. Our season was a disaster and we thought we were going to finish where you did until we sacked our second manager of the year and finished the last 7 games with 5 wins and 2 draws! We fielded over 50 players in the season, half of whom we can barely remember the names of. The final team included just 2 who had been in the squad at the start of the season, plus 2 youngsters promoted from the academy.

Have patience, because in my experience, rushing a squad together does not work.

Leading Fish in Hants you speak sense and that speaks volumes considering the crap you have had to put up with and the disappointment and your own agony at relegation level. However things are slightly different in that we are not and have never been in administration and to my knowledge you have never been in the conference, though I could be wrong.

No we haven't been in the conference, unless you count the old Southern League from which we joined the Football League Third Division South in 1921. I started supporting Pompey when they were last in the 4th Division in 1977 so I have gone through just about all the emotions, three administrations, four promotions, four relegations, five Wembley appearances, Fa Cup, Europe, Premier League and the very real fear of losing the club altogether. But the one constant remains; love for the club and the camaraderie of match days. I can understand what you are going through, because we truly believed it would be us a few weeks back.

Funnily enough, my father was from Somerset and supported City. however, he also followed the fortunes of Rovers back in the day when there was only friendly rivalry on derby days and the rest of the time you were happy if both teams won. I know that, even as a City man, he would be saddened at your plight.

Keep the faith. You may even enjoy next season as one of the biggest clubs in the Conference. If you get a couple wins under your belts the crowds may get bigger and football will become enjoyable again. It's what we football supporters do.

I don't think you should be worried about not signing anyone yet - better to get the right player(s) than just bodies

You've got to be patient, you got to wait to see who stays and who goes first. You will get a few players refusing to play in the conference who's sounded out their agents but not informed the club yet.
Once they've returned from their holidays the manager will have a better idea off who stays who goes so he can decide what positions to fill.

Well I will be surprised if Lee Brown and Michael Smith have instructed their agents however JJ O Toole most definitely would have. As for the youngsters and Harrison (who has been place on the transfer list) this could easily be DC's way of giving them a kick up the arse.

Think you could be right about Harrison why put him on the list its unlikely another club would want him plus if they did we wouldn't get anything for him if we wanted him out that badly surely we should just released him from his contract
