Ondrej Celustka is hoping to stay at Sunderland after spending a season on loan with the Premier League club. The Czech Republic international made 27 appearances for the Black Cats this season and does not want to return to his parent club Trabzonspor. âAfter my experience in England and playing in the Premier League, to go back to Trabzonspor now would be a backwards step,â Celustka told the Czech press. âGoing there three years ago was very different. âTherefore, I either want to stay in England or go to Germany.â The Czech international began his career in his homeland with FC Tescoma Zlin. He joined Slavia Prague in 2009, making 41 league appearances and scoring three goals. Following a short spell on loan at Palermo, Celustka was signed by Trabzonspor for â¬900,000 in 2011, making 55 league appearances for the Turkish Super Lig club.
Seeing his chance with bardo leaving maybe? We need two rb's and Celustka for cover would be a sensible cheap option. Still only 24, plenty of room for improvement. Clyne and Celustka for rb options next season?
Me too, I thought he did well when he had a run in the team and as you say, a good understudy. We need strength in depth and decent quality replacements as well.
Doesnt necessarily say us, do think he was good and as a backup player for £2.5m he is a steal with his versatility But its whether hes happy being the backup tbh Id have him here permanently mind
Think he'd make a good permanent signing - providing he spends the summer learning how to cross the ball once he's done all the hard work of getting into the right position
Havnt we got one of them first refusal loan agreements with him? I'd deffo keep him on the books like
ONDREJ Celustka hopes his season-long stint at Sunderland will see him earn a move away from Turkish side Trabzonspor this summer. Full-back Celustka made 20 starts for Sunderland and earned an international debut for the Czech Republic after arriving on loan at the Stadium of Light last August. There is no prospect of Sunderland making a permanent move for Celustka after he slipped down the pecking order under Gus Poyet – his last Premier League start coming in New Year’s Day’s defeat to Aston Villa. But neither does the 24-year-old want to return to his parent club Trabzonspor, with the Turkish side reportedly equally eager to sell Celustka, as they look to remove their overseas players from the wage bill. “After my experience in England and playing in the Premier League, to go back to Trabzonspor now would be a backwards step,” Celustka told the Czech press. “Going there three years ago was very different. “Therefore, I either want to stay in England or go to Germany.” Meanwhile, Exeter City teenager Matt Grimes has shrugged off talk of interest from a host of clubs, including Liverpool and Sunderland. The Black Cats have scouted the 18-year-old midfielder, who made 37 appearances during his maiden campaign as a first-team regular for the Grecians in League Two. “It is pleasing that my performances are getting noticed, but it is all just rumours,” said Grimes. “I have just got to focus on next season at Exeter because I have not heard anything. “Nothing has been said to me directly. “I want to play as high as I can and I’m not going to turn down opportunities to play for England or play for a higher club if it is right. “But at the moment I just need to focus on doing what is right in my head and that is staying at Exeter City.”
Not good enough.... Cant beat a dutch internatiomal keeper from 35yds out on his debut. Pffft. In all seriousness though, he didnt do much wrong. He was solid. 2.5M? Aye maybe
I'd take him for that, thought he did ok in a poor team on a bad run. Be interested to know who you think we could get for that 2.5 though
