I was simply putting over some friendly philosophy, and observations on how I see some of our fans react, and quite frankly it was all very accurate... It's probably a good thing we're not on the same page, because you have no idea what page I'm on..
Morrison to Ipswich pope to Brighton could be two of the deals RD has sewn up... Absolute embarrasment of a club I'm bloody sick of it all. Whilst we mess about having no manager the rest of the league sign the players. We will end up with Jackson wiggins solly cousins Wilson and the rest of the squad rejects from the bloody network not happy
I'm resigned to losing Morrison, but Pope? Surely not. On purely financial grounds it would be utterly stupid. Pope has no experience above L2, and so will be worth much more in a year's time after a year in the Championship, when his exceptional ability will be more widely known. On the other hand, if Roland is determined to play Thuram it would be necessary to remove the obstacle of having a superior goalie in his way. That would mean that Roland is completely mad though, and I don't think he is.............
My guess would be that Morrison is being offered the same salary as he is presently on so will sign for a mid-table/upper mid Championship team on much higher wages. Pope I think will be sold because Rolly wants Thuram as his Charlton No. 1, £200k now + £50k on appearances plus a 20% sell on clause should see it done.... to who?..... IMHO, it will be Leeds. Rolly needs the £200k as the final payment for the new pitch. The new training centre, Rolly hopes that Cousins will pay for that when he is sold in January 2015 to Arsenal for £1.5m plus add ons I understand people saying that they give Rolly credit for the new pitch and the proposed new training centre BUT these will be paid for by player sales not by Rolly putting the money in himself.
Leaving emotion out of it, is there a reason why RD would specifically want Thuram to be Charlton number 1? As far as I can see, the main reason is because he has been on the edges of the France international squad, so if he became a French international, this would boost his price. The other possibility is that he sees Charlton as an advanced reserve squad for Standard Liege and a French player is more likely to be happy moving to Belgium. On the flip side, English players are often overvalued, and England's goalkeeping situation has been woeful for years. Hart is reasonable, to be fair, but Butland became an international while he was playing in the Championship, and there's no reason to say another young keeper performing well in the Championship wouldn't have the same opportunity. Ability being equal, an England international would usually sell for more money than a French international. But a very concerning picture painted by AHLL, though, and looks a fair one to me. The academy team dismantled to pay for pitch and training centre. At least at Crewe they are well aware of the situation before it happens. Course it could be rubbish but if RD says nowt who's to know?
I don't see any reason or evidence that Roly wants Thuram between the sticks. There is a certain amount of paranoia about the sort of squad RD wants, based on his interesting signings in january, but I've still seen no evidence we're going to plough on with euro trash. Thuram may yet start in august for us, but I don't know and neither does anyone else, and until the new coach shows his hand, you can't say much with any certainty.
It's not based on just the signings in January. Based more on the rumoured reasons why both of the last two managers have left. I don't see the logic in demanding Thuram, per se, but many indications SL players or those who will play for SL are the priority
Selling Pope for peanuts this summer would mean we have a madman running the show, which hopefully is not the case.
The 'Pope must go on' scenario seems so obvious, even from RD's perspective and approach, he surely can see how beneficial it would be to have pope play championship next season and be worth a pretty penny in a season or two. Or is he pre-empting goals being slotted past him because of the rest of the squad, and hence no increase in value !
Didn't hurt Scot Carson the season we went down... He let in a lot of goals, but was still club player of the year,
