What do you all honestly think the outcome will be tomorrow ? None of this oh just happy to be going, or glad we've got top the final... Derby fans seem to be very, very confident...don't blame them really. I think we can sneak it on the 2nd leg performance against Wigan. I'll say 2-1.
I think it'll be a game of 2 halves (maybe 4) beyond that I'm not tempting fate & just praying we go out there & do it.
I think it's too close to call but I'm certainly happy that the weather is looking fairly chilly. Will definitely help our older lads on a big pitch against the youth and pace of Derby.
As a Burnley fan, I have a vested interest - always liked QPR from when I first watched the 1967 League Cup final against West Brom, the 1973 promotion team, but I have gone off them a little since Fernandez came on board and tried to buy success. Never particularly liked Derby although they were a great team when managed by Clough. This season, I think they are a slightly better team than QPR but they let themselves down when we beat them 2-0 at home - we thrashed them 3-0 at Derby early in the season, so came to Turf Moor and adopted intimidation tactics with nasty fouls, snide elbows, forearm smashes etc - mainly by the thuggish Chris Martin and boy wonder Will Hughes. Obviously these tactics did not work against people like Shackell and Duff, and we ran out deserved winners after Martin got himself sent off just before half-time. It will be close, but I think QPR's greater experience of "big" matches (Barton, Krancjar, Green, Dunne etc) will tip the balance for a 2-1 win.
I honestly think our experienced players will rise to the occasion, and deliver. Expect big performances from Green, Hill, Dunne, Barton, Kranky, Yossi, and Charlie. Really hope Yun starts. Think we can win this 2-1
1-1 full time and will win on pens, we are QPR its not going to be easy and our team always pushes us to the limit lol
On balance, I think Derby are more likely winners. They have been much more consistent in the last two thirds of the season and have a fantastic coach. In contrast, we have not been impressive this season and I don't quite understand how we even made it the play offs! However, HOWEVER, we were fantastic against Wigan, particularly in the home leg: we played to our potential and the team played like the really, REALLY wanted it. We may be the under dogs but if we can replicate that performance, WE WILL WIN.
Just too close to call. Experience v youth; big stage experience v not; momentum gathering over last 6 weeks v consistently good. May as well just toss a coin.
I am very confident that we will win tomorrow. We have 'big game' players throughout the side and there seems to be a real group will to win, which is all-important.
I think our players should stare out the Derby players in the tunnel before the game and ask them one simple question, who the f@@@ are you. On paper, we have a better squad with more Premiership experience. I am glad we are in the final after having two hard semi final games against a really good Wigan team. I think the character we showed to come back from 0-1 down will stand to us, Remember, Arsenal couldn't beat Wigan in 120 minutes at Wembley only a few weeks ago. It will be close but I expect the outcome will be a very tight win by one goal to us. Please do it in 90 minutes Rangers as I have a flight to catch. Extra time will put me under pressure for time.
Coming into the game Derby are favourites, they have a great recent record and are definitely in form. I like being the underdog, I really don't like the playoffs and think 3rd place should go up every year (it's over a season not one game) but I'll obviously make an exception this year. If our players turn up I honestly think we can beat them though we will need to be at the top of our game.
The only thing I can accurately predict is that it's gonna do my stress levels and heart no good whatsoever...
If our big experience players turn up and we match there energy I honestly think we will win but not holding my breath been far to inconsistent this season. I think the first goal will be a massive.
I think if we can boss it early we will win as some of their young players may freeze and we should have the experience. If not it may be a long afternoon!!!
im afraid these are my thoughts exactly. however - a proper day out with all the old faces and rangers acquitting themselves well and i think i can be fairly philosophical in defeat (cue me breaking down in tears at the final whistle and then topping myself by thrusting the pointy end of a corner flag into my eye)
