having seen the races selected for tomorrow I am going to opt out this week as I am fairly confident that the bet won't be landed this week.
good luck to those selecting - hope you get further than the first race this time!

Crikey, that looks impossible. I could pick 6 in each race and not get 6 places let alone 6 winners. I'm beginning to wonder now. Is this really a game of skill, given the winners of these races? Skill is more about choosing which races to back in and then which horse(s) to back. The argument that Scoop 6 requires skill whereas the lottery doesn't isn't as compulsive as I imagined. At least there is some skill with the Scoop 6 but maybe it needs to be mixed up with an element of pot luck to stand more chance of selecting those "totally unexpected winners". Alternatively, as I believe someone has already pointed out, we increase the skill element by choosing the 6 races to bet in and doing permed accumulators. At least we know the exact odds (unless SP has to be taken).

Add in soft ground Ron and it looks even more difficult - If I find myself with too much time on my hands tomorrow morning I might select in order of preference 8 horses in each races just to see how many picks I would have needed to win - if indeed even that would be enough. I will kick myself if my first choice in each race wins.

The soft ground* may make it a bit easier Blue. Except, if anything like today, will produce a lot of NRs and therefore more winners to share the jackpot. In each race we could do with a list of all the runners that love it soft and guaranteed to stay. Maybe our strategy should include 1 horse with a nice name or a pin sticker. <laugh>

According to RP Goodwood is Good to Soft but Haydock and Catterick are down as Good.
