And we're playing Man City not Brentford!!! Still not sure how like. Leicester at home opening day as they'll bring some atmosphere and a big following. I'd be happy with Hull as our first away game, bigger allocation next season I reckon. Then, if you can arrange it, I'll have the Mags at home in the first month, Derby away on Boxing Day and Burnley at home on the final day. Cheers
i cant wait for pre season. i hate the close season as I'm not really into any sports but football. the world cup helps but its not the same as watching sunderland. plus the world cup this year in brazil so the matches are on at funny times.
Not for me marra... I like to stay well away from newly promoted sides if possible. They are still on a high in August. Play them late Sept onwards after they've had a couple of demoralising defeats!! I always prefer the 'big boys' early doors, it always makes for a great atmosphere and is a chance to catch them 'cold'!!!
I agree up to a point, I just think it makes a great opening day. I hate it when we get some dreary club, we've played loads of times before, who bring a 800 fans complaining how far it is to Sunderland. Fulham was a terrible opening fixture ........ I'd hate Stoke or a club like that this time.
Don't get me wrong.. I'm in total agreement about having a well supported club 1st game. I'm hoping we can carry on the atmosphere of the last 2 home games into next season. And as you correctly say.. It a lot harder to achieve that with half the north stand upper empty. If I had my choice.. I'd have Arsenal / Liverpool first game. If we get beat then it's no great 'surprise' and moral is still decent. I feel after the defeat at home to Fulham last season... Fans were fearing the worst .. 1 game in !?!
i just hope that the fixtures are more random ,as in how they are not in groups of four or five of the top teams together ,and also our home form to be much better or else its hang on to your hats time again.
