Just read that the guy is under contract at another team, so RD is fine paying compensation but not in signing a proven manager to the club instead? And this will mean probably what little money he may have invested is now all on compensation.... great

I'm led to believe that two will definitely come in from SL, but they are not due to sign up until next week.

I'm due to arrive at The Valley in the next hour or so. I will probably renew my STs... but then again, no...

    Well there's a shock...

Having said that there's a stack of good quality Belgium players in our leagues... Let's hope we get some of the same.

A little goosy gander at Bob's recent "managerial track record" actually reveals the following:

He has been in his current coaching job for 6 months and his team has just finished third bottom, with the bottom two relegated.

Under Bob, they lost each of their last 4 games, and won just 1 in their last 9.

Before that, Super Bob was manager of Cercle Brugge. In the three seasons before him they finished 4th, 9th, 9th.

Under Super Bob they finished 9th, 7th and in the season he got sacked they finished bottom (16th).

Bob then went to Gent mid-season. They didn't win a single game in his 11 in charge (five draws, 6 defeats), and he was sacked again (twice in one season) after 11 games. After Bob was sacked Gent stayed up after an amazing run of 12 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats in their last 18 games.

All in all, I would judge Bob Peeters managerial record - in poor leagues - as not befitting that of a Charlton manager/head coach. His record is 3/10 at best. It is impossible to escape the conclusion that he has been brought to Charlton to do as he is told, and pick Network players regardless.

BBC reporting it now, Bobs the guy...

In other news just had a few missed calls from the Valley, maybe they've heard of my ongoing success as manager on FIFA (probably just wanted me to renew my season ticket)

His record at Gent is poor, but after he left, they only had 8 matches remaining of the normal season, of which they won 3. There's then a strange split and playoff section where they only played the poor teams (looks like they finished top of a group featuring Mons, Lierse and Kortrijk) so the stats from 18 games are misleading. They then lost 7-0 to Standard Liege.

Before he went to Waasland-Beveren, they had won 1 of their previous 14 matches. They then won 5 of their remaining 16 matches in the normal season.

Seems like people are disappointed about this possibility because it looks like all new signings might be Standard Liege rejects. Is anyone actually surprised about this?

Jose Riga has decided to walk away from his job with Championship Charlton Athletic, his advisor has confirmed to Sky Sports.

After failing to agree on the club's future plans with owner Roland Duchatelet, Riga - whose contract was only until the end of the season - is leaving The Valley.

The 56-year-old took over from Chris Powell in March with the club at the foot of the table but he managed to galvanise the Addicks squad and lead them to safety with a record of eight wins, three draws and six losses.

Now Riga has decided to walk away, but the one-time AC Milan academy chief is hoping to get another job in England.

    Riga: Kept Addicks in Championship
"Jose has loved his time in England and has showed just how good a coach he is. Keeping Charlton up was not easy at all," his advisor Chris Nathaniel of NVA told Sky Sports.

"It was a tough thing for Jose to leave Charlton, but he is already looking to the future and is hopeful of getting a job here, and we have already had some contact from clubs about his availability."

Sky Sports understands that Riga is already on the radar of Championship club Blackpool, after they learned he was leaving Charlton and keen to remain in England.

Reports in Belgium suggest former Millwall striker Bob Peeters - currently in charge at Waasland-Beveren - is set to take charge at Charlton.

So he is staying in the UK. So much for him going back to AC Milan, he is instead being linked with Blackpool.

    Sigh.

Yep. Riga's agent confirms that he chose to leave after being unable to agree future plans with RD. You don't have to be Einstein to work out that means "play the Network players, or do one"

Riga also said that Duchâtelet is yet to offer him a job elsewhere but that they will sit down and have more extensive talks. #cafc

Riga: Duchâtelet didn't give a real reason but he has his own ideas and he takes all the decisions of course. #cafc

Jose Riga on his sacking as Charlton coach: It was a bit of a surprise. I had no clause saying I could stay if I kept the club up. #cafc

If 2 different managers both didn't think the "network" players were good enough and we are about to appoint a nodding dog then God/Gandhi/Santa/Spiderman help us next season!

If Thurman comes back as our no1 I will find Roland and kick him in the nuts until he sells up!

I have just seen RD's spokesman on Sky Sports, confirming that Bob Peeters is a great coach & the Network players are top class.

I understand JR was on the verge of signing a new deal, but a certain caveat was not agreeable to all parties.

JR will soon be sampling the delights of a traditional seaside town. But probably not Blackpool.

The 3pm news has been delayed until later today or tomorrow morning.
