The team and fans did ourselves and the City proud today. We were always likely to lose but half a billion people watching just saw a heroic effort from the players who gave everything and the support in the stands was brilliant. Memories I'll never forget are Davies' pure joy after scoring the 2nd (that would have become one of those moments they show over and over again for years to come if we'd won), Davies again chasing the keeper down in the last few seconds, overtaking other City players with a level of effort which just summed the guy up, he's a hero. Thousands of flags waving pre match in an absolute sea of amber, spontaneous applause for the team at the final whistle followed by a huge chant of City Til I Die. Everyone watching saw what we're about, well done everyone.
Couldn't agree more. I've never been more proud to be a life long Hull City fan. Every single MAN who represented our team gave their absolute all for 120 minutes (except Alex Bruce due to unfortunate circumstances, who I've never seen play a better game - an absolute magnet as Michael Owen said). We can be gutted - but look where we've come from. If someone had said 10 years ago we'd lose to Arsenal in the FA Cup final in EXTRA TIME, be in Europe and be safe in the Premier League, many people would think they'd be mental. Let's look forward to next year and Europe - but never forget what an absolutely marvellous season, and FA Cup final we've played our part in.
Someone beat me to it and like I have said elsewhere and on Twitter, very proud and people know who Hull City are now. No longer can they say who are they at least. And tweeted this - because this says it all @hullcityteam Hold your heads up and be proud, because we are very proud of you #effort #utt, #hcafc
Very proud of the tea and manager. A momentous achievement regardless of the result. That performance was for the Tiger Nation who never lived to see today.
Like the sentiment - but can't fully agree. If he'd have been on the pitch for 120 (or even 90) minutes, Alex Bruce would have run him VERY close. Out of this world display from him today. Curtis undoubtedly wins it for me though - ran everywhere up and down the pitch, won every tackle and every header. And still, clearly injured, after 120 minutes was in the oppositions box nearly getting onto the Aluko cross/shot after Fabianski's mistake. The man is unbelievable - and I'm so glad he plays for Hull City.
Fantastic effort from everyone - players, manager and fans. Disappointing result but still a great season. I felt so exhausted and drained after the match but a couple of much needed pints at Euston have done the trick. Onwards and upwards - to next season. UTT!
Just got back to the hotel. So proud of our Tigers who gave a fantastic performance. Arsenal supporters around us in Club Wembley were absolutely shellshocked after we went 2 up in first 15 minutes. Hard to single anyone out...they were all heroes....but Captain Fantastic Curtis showed Woy why he made a massive mistake not taking him to Brazil....immaculate performance. Elmo won every header ....does he ever lose one....wish we'd had Long out there to run onto them although Matty didnt let us down...Hudd was outstanding in MF....McG made some great saves.....Aluko really shone when he came on and nearly scored the equalizer at the end. The lads gave their all.....couldn't have wished for more.
Very proud. No one would have predicted we'd be winning2 nil after 10 mins and they had to resort to faking free kicks to get back in it.
What a game, I think I lost my voice in the first. 5 minutes. All round great performance today. There are bits you could probably pick holes in but why would anyone? I think it's the best game I've ever been to when we've lost! The result has taken it's toll on me though, sipping a beer at my hotel, not remotely drunk, just chilling! Arsenal just had that little edge & should really have won it comfortably. However, the players truly put their bodies on the line. Every one of them!
So fantastic. I wish they'd have done a lap of honour. I hope they treasure those runners-up medals. It must have been the best final for years. I came out of that stadium with a broad grin. Arsenal know they could easily have lost - if we'd have gone 3-0 up I don't think they would have got it back, and we easily could have. They were all heroes. Great team selection by Bruce senior, and I think Bruce junior was absolutely superb. When he went off, for me the game turned.
100% proud of the team, they gave everything. Wow what a performannce. The turning point came when Alex went off. We ran on empty the. This team is going to get better and stronger. Next up our European adventure starts.
The whole game just had this magical aura around it, but those first 10 minutes were something else. Played them off the pitch in the opening stages and as others alluded to, could have very easily been 3-0 in our favor. Would have loved to have gotten a win, but words cannot begin to describe how proud I am of this squad. They battled hard throughout the game(the entire season really), despite their tank being empty and legs pretty much worn out. And to think, more good moments ahead. Up next Europa League
