Is there any truth in the Lovren rumours? Surely, as he is a relative newbie, he should be told: Hard cheese, you are not going anywhere.

 

Doesn't seem like it. I think much like with Victor, there's no point - they both have three or four years left on their deals so their transfer fee would be too inflated for people to bother, especially considering they just got here.

 

Modric was one year into a 6 year deal when he went on strike to try and force a move to Chelsea

Benteke had only been at Villa for a year before he handed in a transfer request too.

Unfortunately many players and agents don't treat contracts with much respect, signing a new deal is just a payrise to them and they don't appreciate the commitment they're making.

Lovren's failure in France will still be fresh in his memory so I doubt he will be angling for a move so soon.

 

I have a very strong memory of his early days here...he looked so happy...I would be very disappointed in Lovren if he was looking for a move.

 

Rumour is that swindon will try for a seasons loan after Stephens impressed at the county ground.

 

They may well try, but he's spending pre-season with the first teamers here first.

 

So far there are only 2 actual bids and the examples above cannot be used as any sort of comparison.

Firstly Modric and Benteke did not come through their clubs systems. They were like most people who always look to move upward and move from job to job with no real affiliation to the club they were playing for. Lallana and Shaw do have an affiliation with the club they are at.

Secondly Modric went on strike for how long exactly? And whilst he was indeed in the first year of a 6 year contract it wasn't his first year at Spurs. You need to try and see the context of these things when using these sort of comparisons.

Lovren and Wanyama are still in their first year at Saints. Shaw and Lallana have come through our academy. Modric had been at Spurs a while and went on strike for the shortest amount of time ever which was laughable and Benteke was wanting away from a club that was struggling to survive and showed no signs of improvement as we saw again this year and will see again next year unless they are sold.

 

Cannot see Shaw or Lallana making a public scene...both owe the club too much.

 

AM hearing STRONG rumours that MP has agreed to go to another club on a 3 year contract , promise of BIG money to spend , but it is definitely NOT in the UK !

The person has been VERY close to the facts once or twice in the fairly recent past .

Has also been more often than not miles wide !
