With the transfer window looming, I thought it would be interesting to see where former targets, or players discussed on here as potentials, have ended up since.

    Player: Kevin Amankwaah
    Club At Time: Swindon Town
    Position: Right Back

Not formally a target from the club, he was a player many admired from the 4 games we had against Swindon in the 2009/10 season in League One. He was at the end of his contract and few discussed wether he was worth signing, especially when it was apparent Frazer Richardson would be off. Since then he went on to play another season at Swindon, but failed to rediscover the form that made him a standout the previous year and left a year later for Burton, before currently plying his trade at Salisbury.

    Verdict: A thankful MISS

    Player: Anthony Wordsworth
    Club at Time: Colchester United
    Position: Midfield / Winger

Again someone that was never really linked with the club in an official capacity... Wordsworth came through the Colchester academy making over 170 appearances whilst scoring 48-goals.. Was top scorer for the Essex side in the 2011-12 season before moving to Championship rivals: Ipswich Town in January 2013... Since that move, he's failed to have an impact having made only 15 appearances (Eight coming this season) yet that wasnt helped after cracking three vertebrae in a match against Blackpool shortly after joining.

Verdict: Unfortunate with injury but still a MISS

Think Wordsworth will still come good at mid-table Championship level if he has no after-effects from his injury. I would be more than happy to see us sign him until Holmes-Dennis is ready to seize the LM position.

Plenty of loanees that fans wanted us to keep have nosediving careers since. I see Ecclestone has been released by lowly Blackpool (but, although they have released 17 players, they have offered Fuller a new contract). Hogan Ephraim sinks ever lower. Frimpong flopped at relegated Barnsley. Abdul Razak flopped in Russia then never kicked a ball for West Ham before being released. Martyn Waghorn hasn't done much but may yet come through. I have been noticing quite a few like that but my memory is so bad these days.

    Player : a2c

    Club at the time: Millwall

    Position: WUM supreme

Season after season a2c was linked to Charlton, although there were reservations amongst our fans that the language could be a barrier. Taken in by his heartfelt tales of overcoming Krohns disease, a2c started off as a beachcomber and graduated to Millwall after 20 seasons of claiming Disability Living Allowance. On the day when he was eventually due to sign for us, a piece in the Daily Malice that was full of bile'vitriol, warned him about the boo boys at 'ourn. The rest is history. Thass all there iss to it <wah>

I remember us being heavily linked with Mathieu Flamini the summer before he joined Arsenal.

At the time all in the media were describing him as a 'box to box midfielder'

I think Rob Green was linked with us too when Norwich were relegated, but he went to West Ham instead.. now at QPR and could be in the prem once again, not doing too bad for himself oh and add a couple England caps to that too

I was hoping that someone would have been able to say what he's up to now.

Not heard much about him since.

Yup was the year we were Relegated from the Premier League... He went to West Ham and ultimately we bought in Scott Carson

Has actually been relegated from the Premier League with all three of his clubs... Norwich (2005).. West Ham (2011).. Queens Park Rangers (2013)
