Whoever gets the job, it's clear from comments both on here and on other sites that a majority of fans will not particularly want the candidate chosen. My personal preference for Zola, for example, is as much a vote against the others as a positive desire for him, and it seems that many people have the same feeling - we know who we don't want, but we're not sure who we do. The list of candidates as a Championship club is much less exciting than the names which were being discussed six months ago when we were still a desirable option for rising and foreign managers. In short, a lot of us are going to feel doubtful. So, unless the Board pull a rabbit out of the hat, I hope we can all just swallow these doubts once the decision is made and get behind the team and the club and give the new guy time to prove himself. I know what we do and say on here doesn't matter, but the overall mood around the club DOES, and we'll need all the positivity we can muster if we're going to get out of the Championship. That's a race won by desire most seasons rather than simple class.
I'm pretty confident that (like every other time) the new manager will have the backing of everybody. I would support any of the managers on our shortlist.
I agree with jr vc, it's the vocal majority voicing themselves The majority WILL be behind the new man, whoever that is
Here here whoever it is deserves nothing less than 100% from the fans and just as importantly the players
If we see scenes like we did this year Then it matters not who's the boss, That undermines whoever is here And won´t help us one lÃttle toss.
there is no rabbit in the hat and there never will be, no matter which club you support or who the manager is. you cannot please everyone because people have different views on what they want and therefore different managers to them would seem ideal and to others seem daft. everybody at the club needs to pull in the same direction next season because if its anything like the season just gone we stand no chance of promotion. hopefully a good start would help to do that but god help us if we don't win our first game... i expect the world will collapse or something
have we ever won our opening game? got a feeling the last time we did was against grimsby, around the start of the century
I can vaguely remember when we lost against Watford in our first game back in the Championship this point was raised. We very rarely win (or even draw) our first game of the season at any level it seems.
we won at arsenal on the opening day of the premier league and i recall winning at wednesday and at home to forest i think in the late 80s. can't think of any other opening day wins since i've been going! oh, johnny newsome's two goal demolition of luton! i think neil adams scored that day too
...... but didn't we go on to win the title that year. Where is the team that inflicted that horrendous defeat?
I honestly think you should avoid Lennon, I think he is a horrible little man and could be your answer to Roy Keane and I would no wish that on anyone...
That's what I thought - which means he's not available (though I imagine probably will be as any new owner will want to stamp his mark)
