@SkySportsPeteO: Leicester City are closing in on the signing of Charlton goalkeeper Ben Hamer. #LCFC #CAFC http://t.co/oUnX16JUX5 Thoughts? Were all hoping he is just cover as were still hopeful Kasper will sign a new deal
I imagine it will be cover. Good shot stopper, but honestly, I've never felt confident with him between the sticks - even going back to our League One season.
Hamer's had a great season helping the team avoid relegation by keeping clean sheets and holding onto wins. I'd be very sorry to see him go as the other GK who was hardly picked after Ben Alnwick left was inadequate
I would echo SuperChrissy's views as above but also add in that he isn't very likeable from a fan's perspective. Seems to be a bit of a prat and likes to blame people.
Ben Hamer is a great character and will be sorely missed if he goes. He was instrumental in the team achieving promotion from League 1 as well as securing a top 10 position last season and assisting the team in battling against relegation this one. Just look at the highlights of Charlton's win against Leeds when Ben made an excellent penalty save from Ross McCormack in injury time. A first class goalie who will do well in the Premier League and is PL class.
Not irreplaceable... although with our transfer policy so far maybe he is. More concerned with loss of Dervite, to be frank
York fans have a song for him, so he probably hates some northern team. I see Gary Borrowdale has been released.
Hamer's sale has certainly got the tartan blanket brigade hot under the collar on CL. You would think we were selling Gordon Banks.
Good shot stopping and distribution but indecisive in command of his area and on crosses. Also quick to point the finger when goals are conceded. Good potential (at 26 still young for a GK) but not irreplacable. Rubs people up the wrong way with things like the beard, twitter etc but goalkeepers are a rare breed and is not stuff that I am particularly bothered about.
Of course he does - we are your bogey team. Have I ever told you ours is the most one-sided local derby in world football ? Hearing that Poyet is set to join his old man at Sunderland!!
Questionable positioning. He gets beaten by deflections more than any goalkeeper I have ever seen. And for every Leeds match, there was always a Barnsley that followed it.
