To be honest, I think Bruce just knows the type of stuff the Southern journo's lap up and simply tells them what they want to hear. Yes, he could say it is a city on the up - the fighting talk move would have been to say we've won city of culture, won the contract for the biggest wind turbine factory in Europe and now we're a city looking to add a win of the FA Cup to the list. Bruce knows though that doesn't paint a very good 'underdog' story and if anything, gives Arsenal something to fight back against. A clever manager would use the underdog tag and a 'these people don't have much going in their lives' line as an extra reason for our players to go out there and win it. Though I think Bruce has been slightly mis-quoted too. He's quoted as saying "it isn't easy living here", when I imagine he meant it as "it isn't easy-living here".
I'm sure if they interviewed any of us on a regular basis, and then just published the selected soundbites, we wouldn't come over half as well as Brucie does.
Sooner the Hull Boundaries are extended to incorporate places such as North Ferriby, Swanland, Cottingham the better. I too hate it when he comes out with the lowest employment bollocks, is that even a fact anymore? He should be talking about the good things about the City.
