Well done to our under 21's on becoming Premier League Under 21's champions with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford coutesy of lovely goals from Charley Musonda and Lewis Baker. We can add this to our FA Youth Cup and our youth set up is looking very strong. And what a week for Baker. Young Player of the Year, Goal of the Season and now the winning goal in the Under-21's final
Baker, Ake, Loftus-Cheek and Christensen are the ones with the best chance of making an impression in the first team. Mind you, lots of players we've said that about before.
bb83 - agreed. Each year we should be looking to buy a maximum of 1 or 2 players and bring the same through. Roman has invested significant amounts of £'s in the youth set-up and training facilities and we really need to start repaying some of that, by showing the efforts of the work
Let's hope Solanke and Colkett continue their development too. GIve Loftus-Cheek and Ake some Carling time next season
Thoroughly deserved congrats. Its great to see us churning out the next generation of Hull, Stoke and Fulham players
There was another win for Chelsea last night just up the road from me, I wasn't sure where to share this so hope its ok to put it in here http://www.mkweb.co.uk/Sport/Footba...t-MK-Dons-in-Milton-Keynes-20140515130000.htm
I thought it was a great comeback from our lads last night, I always seem to miss the U21 games so was glad I caught that one. Very impressed with a few of them out there also like the look of Ola Aina , note to self to watch more of the youngsters games.
I've watched a fair few of the youth games over the past couple of seasons and every single time Lewis Baker stands out an absolute mile. A very complete footballer who is pretty good at everything, especially set pieces. I've always wondered why he doesn't go out on loan? Is it that we don't want to let him go out on loan as we feel he'd develop better staying with us? If he was made available loan we'd have a huge queue of clubs wanting to take him.
