I've lost track of which players are still at the club. Lockyer? O'toole?Parkes?Mildenhall?McChrystal etc... are they going to stay?
Defiantly think JJOT will go DC mention he wants to keep hold of Mildenhall so maybe their is interest in him
What we have left: Mildenhall Smith (Under contract but been offered an improved extended contract - still waiting on decision) Parkes McChrystal Brown (Out of contract but have been offered a new contract - still waiting on decision) Lockyer Clarke O'Toole Gow (Out of contract after leaving Exeter but we have told him he will get a contract from us if he proves his fitness after the summer) Harrison (2 years left on contract but has been placed on transfer list) Santos (Out of contract but have been offered a new contract - still waiting on decision) Harrold (Was out of contract but had a clause in his contract that he gives him an automatic 1 year deal) Brunt Lucas I think some are still with us because they are still under contract otherwise Clarke would have released a few more. I think some of these will move on like O'Toole and Parkes. I will be surprised if they are both with us. They wont want to play this level and I have no doubt that they will get interest from clubs. If Smith rejects new deal I would bet that he will move on too as he will get interests from clubs. But if he signs his new deal I think he will be stay and fight for us to get us promoted 1st time of asking. I think McChrystal and Mildenhall will stay put along with Clarke, Lockyer, Brunt and Lucas. If Harrold wasnt interested in staying he wouldnt of taken up his right take a new 1 year deal that was in his clause of his contract. If think Santos will sign his new deal but im 50/50 on Brown signing. I will be surprised if Harrison finds a new club. I think he will buckle down and show Clarke his best and hope Clarke accepts him. I think Gow will prove himself to Clarke and will sign a deal with us. Not sure what potential youth players we have who will be staying!
Most will go so the big question is what type of players will they get in? Journeymen on their way down or up-and-coming players? This league will be tough, not suitable for lightweight youngsters but we will have to have a mix of youth and experience.
A bit of both I hope, DC said he's going to use the loan market more so hopefully he can get in some experienced and younger players
he wasnt mentioned in the retained/released list on the OS http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/retained-list-2014-1539500.aspx#ElzirsDOfEuMGucQ.99 so im guessing he is in the list of players who is remaining at the club?? or the club has forgotten about him!
you are right this league is not suitable for lightweight youngsters which is why im confused why santos has been offered a new deal! as for what players we will get in, i honestly dont care as long as they are exactly what DC describes which is: "We wonât be going for players who donât have the hunger, the desire and the ambition that matches the supporters, myself and the football club" "You need to have a mixture and it is up to me to get the balance of the squad right, and make sure the squad has all the attributes in it to combat everything" "I have said all season that I think the squad is unbalanced, so now is my opportunity to try and put the balance right" http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/261385-Clarke-will-not-rush-with-signings! if he can get this right then i think we should be top 5 with the budget im expecting him to have available.
Santos has the pace to cause a lot of problems at this level... if his body can stand the punishment...
Welcome Thorngas I think he will go. He has stated he wants to play at a higer level. His comments in an interview before the Mansfield were according to him taken out of context when he said wants to play with better players in higher divisions. Well scoring 15 goals from midfield in a team that gets relegated will get a lot of attention and add to that he got into the team of the season which will create interest alone. As soon as a team puts in an offer I think he will be keen to go and that the club will be forced to get rid. His wages will free up a lot to help get in 2/3 players. I would get rid to be honest. I know DC wants to keep his best players but I dont think he performed good enough for DC to say he wants to keep him. I think DC cant wait to see the back of him.
