Great atmosphere, great performance, great result. If we can show the same all-round commitment at Wembley, Derby could be blown away. I was critical of Morrison being left out, but Krancjar's performance fully justified his selection - who'd have thought that he had 120 minutes in him? Yun's contribution underlined the fact that he should start against Derby, but does he replace Hill or Dunne? Dunne was immense towards the end of the game, but on recent form (i.e. before last night), I would favour Hill to partner Onuoha. Hoillett was a big threat when he had the ball at his feet, but getting it there seems to be a problem for him - too many poor first touches. A great cameo by Zamora, and Austin's tireless running was justly rewarded with the two goals. MOM for me though was Barton, a superb controlled, committed performance.
Gets a bit cool you know watching Arry's teams in Oslo! I watched it here in Phuket last night and Yeh even Dunne got me warmed up a bit! He did get better as the game went on and the game got tough, all credit for that though his lack of speed was always a risk. But I thought all who played did well last night. Austin Mom for me, whole match. Krancjar was our best player for the first 60, Joey the 2nd 60. Ned was great, as was Green, BZ and Yun when they came on. I never seen O'Neil play as well as he did last night either.
What route are you taking Tramore? I am going Cork-Stansted early morning and back on the last Heathrow-Cork flight.
Kerry we're going Dublin - Gatwick out early morning and back on late evening one. Bloody long day hope it's worth it!!!
I arrive at Gatwick 8:40 Saturday morning. Would be fun if we could catch the same train in to London.
Perfect Norway we get in just after 9:00 so should be no problem. There will be a few of us on the flight and I think we can get a decent discount on the train fairs for a group, do you want us to book you the train tickets if the discount is worthwhile?
Amazing atmosphere, throat is killing me today! I never thought I'd see the day where Bobby Zamora outpaced 3 defenders. He actually looked quick last night, for the first time since he joined us. He bullied the defenders and held the ball up and backed in so well. Even his first touch was almost perfect. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Maybe what Harry said a couple of weeks ago, about Bobby saying to him that for the first time in god knows how long he actually feels 100% fit, is true. Certainly looked like it last night. The temptation now is to start him at Wembley but I hope Harry keeps him as an impact sub. Bobby Zamora and impact sub, sounds so wrong! I thought the method behind the madness of starting Doyle on the right wing may have been because if things were going badly at the start (as it turned out) then it was an easy formation switch to put Doyle up top and play 4-4-2, without having to sacrifice an early substitution. Maybe I'm giving Harry too much credit though. Either way, it all worked out! Crowd were brilliant and as has been said by others, at the game I really didn't feel that nervous even when we were 1-0 down. Somehow I just knew we'd win it. On to Wembley!
Hi mate. I saw in the the thread that you were calling for Zamora and you were spot on. Everyone around me was calling for Morrison, but he did nothing! Yep, I should have mentioned Kranjcar. He was very good and played on after doing his hamstring in extra time......real commitment. I think Clattenberg may have let him off a bit though as he seemed destined for a 2nd yellow. Hopefully see you at Wembley.
Nice! Great evening, and I've no doubt Harry will keep the boys focused on the prize. I'm sure it's been mentioned elsewhere, but they have to work on how to close out a game. The last five minutes took years off my life
It's pronounced "fooket" is if you didn't already know Swords! And I definitely said Phuket a few times last night!
Watching the match from afar, on a small Bet365 screen, I must admit I was of those people baying for Morrison and Yun to come on in the 2nd half. Zamora turned out to be brilliant, quite the revelation, whilst Morrison was very ordinary and disappointing. On one play Bobby won and held up the ball backing into his defensive marker and then just ran out of steam collapsing to the ground like a horse pulling up. Definitely an A for effort and he was also instrumental in winning this most important match for us with his pass to Charlie. For people having a go at Hoilett, he did win us the penalty. Great thinking of Charlie to mix things up with Carson, who had likely reviewed his playbook, by sending him the wrong way. Kranjcar perhaps based on his relationship playing at a higher level seemed quite chummy with Clattenberg after incidents he was involved in, which if so was good, since with another ref he could have picked up another yellow.
No, a thoroughbred, still almost ready for pasture (i.e. no new contract), but not destined for the knackers yard for glue.
Agree totally. His last couple of performances have been average (perhaps holding back to avoid a booking). But last night he was superb. I think he and Nico Kranjcar feed off each other and go up a gear in the big matches.
Well, somewhat over the emotional crash of the evening, quite a battle it turned out to be but I have to say honestly that I thought over the two legs QPR earned their win. I thought you defended better at our place and attacked better at yours, simple as. We had some crucial players who didn't perform and for the most part that has to be down to such a long season. Speaking to some mates over the last couple days I think we all have known, in our heart of hearts, that they were just running out of legs and had been for weeks. We all just kept hoping they would find another reserve but it wasn't to be. And some tactical naivety from Uwe hasn't helped us at the death, when margins were so fine. From my perspective, playing both Gomez and Maloney at your place was a mistake and it wasn't helped when neither really performed. I think Gomez is pretty easily subdued, but I expected more from Maloney. Keeping them both on the pitch in case it went to pens was just to perpetuate the error. So - congratulations, and good luck in the final, have a great day out at Wembley I think it's your first time back there in a while so enjoy it.
