I think the dust is settling down now. Big clubs are going to be knocking at the door for Luis Suarez including Real Madrid. We need to stand firm even firmer than last season because the temptation is going to be greater for Suarez. The door must be firmly shut!. For the first time since the beginning of the premiership two teams , first, and second scored more than one hundred goals each. I think SAS should be amended to read SASS....Suarez, Sturidge and Sterling. Our SAS partner were also the two top scorers in the premiership last season.
I think this is very obvious, of course its the key. but if real offer a real fee not 60mil then we will sell. 100 mil no question.
If Real come in then it needs to be a record breaker again - Suarez has made it no secret that Real & Barca are the teams he has aspired to play for all his life so I would thank him and move on if it happened (at the record breaking fee of course)
We don't know at what price Liverpool would be prepared to sell. So it's a bit silly dreaming up figures. What we do know from last Summer is that JH (at least) will only sell at the price that Liverpool feel would allow them to replace Suarez. The market value for a player of Suarez's capabilities was set last Summer by Bale so I would not expect JH to bite for any sum considerably less. However, the picture becomes less clear if there is a player swap involved.
going to be catch 22 in the summer, as we will target some good players for silly money, question then will be asked are we doing what spurs did first before selling bale so they don't get asked silly money, or we actually trying to strengthen the first team with out selling. i don't buy the argument we can get 2 good players to replace luis, he is more valuable than that to the team.
We do know he made reference to offer transfers that were happening last summer though, particularly Cavani's move to PSG. He also said it would have to be a record didn't he although £50m+£1 would be a record sale for us. Of course, if we were to sell for a large fee then whoever we target would cost more too. since FSG refuse to pay over the odds, we could end up short.
I'd like to see us going for our real targets before the WC. Then if a Bayern/Real/Barca offer does come in for Suarez we can leave it dangling until after the WC. Therefore we would not do a Spurs. We would have invested in our squad and only after selling Suarez would we by like for like.
Same but then, I always want us to tie players up early. We started off well last summer getting Toure before the window even opened and then got Aspas and Alberto soon after too. Hopefully, we can get them done early again but better quality. Of course, last summer, the quality players dragged their feet more to wait and see if something better came along, this year we can offer CL football and the prospect of a title challenge too.
Suarez's value has to have doubled this season surely. We were getting bites in the £40mil range last summer. After winning all those awards and being placed, by some, as the third spoke in the Messi vs Ronaldo debate- I would think anything less than £80m would be ludicrous- he has shown this season that he can control discipline which was really the weak part in his performance. For me though, it would have to be silly money- even beyond that to sell. We saw what happened to Spurs... knocking on Europe's door to total crapness just by selling one player, Bale, who isn't as good as Suarez-and then spending mega money to try and rebuild. A dozen nearly men don't replace one world-class player. We need a couple more Suarezes- not one less.
I dont think Real would spend a ot of cash on Suarez. Most likely be a Cash + player. Do they have any fringe players useful to us?
Bale and Ronaldo lol. dont know, i can only think of Alonso, where as barca could probably add a few players like Masch and Tello for example.
bale has set the price... he just has. If real don't want to break the record fine but they must go close.
