What's the odds on the cameras catching Graham Carr watching a local football game?

I knew a guy in France who was a keen cyclist and had inadvertently joined a stage of the Tour de France.

He was cycling along a country lane in Brittany, joined a main road and was scared to death when a group of 10/15 cyclists bombed past him at high speed. Once they'd passed he suddenly realised that he was in the Tour! He went hell for leather and became a mobile chicane for the following pack of riders.

After less than 2km he had been passed by everyone and cycled into the next village where he pulled into a bar for a beer and the owner gave him a drink on the house as he felt sorry for him quitting the stage :)

I will, hoping Wiggins can improve on last year, thought he had a chance after his performance the year before. Think he's had better preparation this year. Hopefully he's improved his climbing - the tour's alaways going to be won by a good climber.

I watch it most years, best year I remember was 1987 when Stephen Roche won, one stage stuck with me when Delgardo got away on a mountain climb, the commentaters were saying it was the end for Roche, he'd never make the time back etc Oh hang on there's someone coming up behind Delgardo, Roche had made up a minute and a half and overtook him, won the stage and was immediately taken to the ambulance and stuck on oxygen. Was great.

Love watching the tour. I'm not one for remembering names but I always find that my heart is pounding when they come to the end of the stage and its a close race.

Only a couple of weeks away, looking forward to it. Also got tickets for British GP in July, busy month of sport watching waiting for the season to begin.

I love Le Tour, watch it every year. Channel 4 used to do good coverage but for a while they they started showing it at 5.30 am, I watch it on Eurosport now but find it difficult to follow Stephen Roache's commentary. Two years ago the opening stages were in London and Kent, I travelled down to see it, it was an awful road trip as it was the weekend of the British Grand Prix and the traffic was busy but it was a brilliant experience.
I almost got to see a mountain stage in Pau, I was on holiday in Lourdes but one of our group was ill and couldn't travel. If I ever win the lottery one of the things I would do is follow the tour.
