By my reckoning, as Phil only got 1 point less than the weekly winners nobody below him could pass him, and that means Tigers Canada has won by 1 point as he had a 3 point lead and scored 2 less than Phil.
With my typical humility, I have to agree with your analysis Ricardo. It was a closely fought battle with "Pitbul" PhilHul ( I thought we only dropped our "h's" in 'Ull, not our "l's" !!) to the bitter end. (I thought you'd sneak in a late edit Phil & you'd probably be going to the Everton match & so would find it difficult to combat my counter-edit - sorry about that). Ironically, 3 of your changes reflected my original predictions which I had modified to reflect your original post, which I promptly re-modified. There you go, giving away trade secrets. Ex-pat CANADATIGER gave the two of us a run for our money (no-one mentioned the prize ?), but looking at the numbers over the season it shows how close the competition has been all along and really anyone could have taken it in the end over the last 5 or 6 weeks. A lot of fun had by all, and an indication of how Littlewoods & Vernons etc made a mint from so many punters over the years - a total crap shoot...... with the banker always winning. Never go to Vegas I say. I'll publish the final stats tomorrow for all participants...it was a lot of fun. Thanks for setting it up Ricardo. Well done TC ...a worthy winner. It was close at the end but the best man won. Gotta say though we Canadians are pretty smart. Also well done Phil....thought you were going to knock him off his perch. Thanks also to Ricardo and DB for making it all possible...very enjoyable. Are we doing a Cup Final prediction? I'm flying over to London tomorrow. Maybe I'll run into some of you at Wembley. Just look for an old guy with silver hair and beard walking VERY slowly. Block 219...row 15. Thanks Phil...it was a close call...4 or 5 weeks ago I had resigned myself to trailing yourself, CANADATIGER, HFFP & TigerRoo at the end of the day, but went on a lucky roll. Great competition with every participant making for an enjoyable diversion from the anxiety of following our beloved team. What a season it has been...just brilliant. Never could have dreamt of this after 60 years of ups & downs. Hope you managed to get a ticket for Saturday....give the lads a rousing cheer for me if so, and enjoy the day. Looking forward to our battle next season.
Thanks CT...as I mentioned to PhilHul, a very enjoyable & close run battle. I'm deeply envious of your trip to Wembley. Despite being a season ticket holder, just couldn't manage to get over there for the big (maybe once in a lifetime) event. My brother-in-law from Hull & district is going in my place - both a City fan & a Spurs supporter...so he has extra incentive in City beating the hated Arsenal. (ps...it's possible to have affection for 2 clubs despite what people say...much to do with where one lived as a kid and where other family members lived). You wouldn't want to hear who my second favorite team is - I'd be lynched on this forum...but I spent 8 years in that particular City when they were in their prime !!!! One of their ex-players is a close mate of mine...he's coming round to my place, along with a couple of ex-Hull lads, to watch the game on telly. He's not an Arsenal fan either ! Have a safe trip back to the promised land CT...lets hope Martinez's prediction comes to pass. Whatever the result, enjoy the occasion. If you bump into Waggy or any of the old-timers from the 60's, say hi from me. Any final scores for the Predictions TC....would like to see where I finished. Going up to London tomorrow morning from my sons house in Sussex...check in at the hotel...and then off to Wembley on the tube from Russell Square...should be in the stadium by 3 pm. Seems like none of the pundits give us a chance....soooo....big upset coming. i can feel it in my bones. Hope we'll meet up someday....sorry it won't be at Wembley this year.

FINAL Season stats - Week 38 as of weekend May 11th 2014. (I've attempted to show everyone who entered selections this season, but I may have left out a few who played a few games earlier in the season who unfortunately disappeared sometime around Week 13 when my system blew up & I didn't have a back-up). Everyone shown below reflect their season's totals accurately however and were derived from Duffens_Briefs weekly summaries published throughout (Thanks Duffen's). Apologies for this being a bit late...too nervous to type & edit with last weeks build up to Wembley & the alcoholic aftermath. Thanks for your patience. NOTABLE FACTS/STATS from season: - On average, 24.1 participants per week. - Out of that average weekly participation, 22 different participants won at least one week or shared in a weekly highest points total. - Remarkably, PhilHul ,who was pipped to being overall points leader by a meagre 1 point, was not a weekly winner. Well done Phil. - HCHKR was the highest with 4 weekly wins on both the "Ricardo" scale & the "% split" wins scale...he had the highest number or "pure" weekly wins & the highest number of High Water Mark points for any tie-breaker situation. A penalty shootout was not needed. Well done HCHKR. Ricardo was second on the "pure" wins scale with 3. - OLM holds the title of highest number of points scored in any week during the season with 16. Well done OLM. - Average scores this week ..... Collectively we EXCELLED on the last week of the PL season, saving the best 'till last (just like City did on Saturday) getting an average score of 8.60 compared to last week (4.63) & previous season's best of 8.52 (WK 18), and season's worst of 2.96 (WK 14). That should inspire for next season ? - Average score /man-wk played = 5.80, UP 0.07 from last week. Small margins between top to bottom on average every week. A closely fought competition, and obviously not easy to predict scores or even WDL results. - Title for most amusing predictions has to go to Erik, who had at least one every week. Notable mention also goes to TigerRev, who on the final week predicted a 5-5 score for the Southampton vs Man U. game. He managed to get a point at least for the eventual draw, but Lambert, Rooney & Van Persie sadly let him down.
