Here be a thread for you to give praise for the efforts of Shola over the year and to wish him well with his new club.... or alternatively vent your spleen at the possibility of him staying on....

Personally I think he will be on his way and my two Shola standouts have been his Mackem slaying exploits.... and his valuable goals in Europe.

So thanks for the memories Shola.... and hope you move onto somewhere where you can find happiness. (get's prayer mat out that he doesn't get a contract extension).

I've attached a poll to see what the feeling is towards him being here next year.... is he staying... or going???

He's going and it's about 5 years too late.

All this "he's good around the changing room" **** does my head in. We have 50k that turn up every home game that would be good in the changing room at explaining what it means to the fans and the importance of giving 100%.

He's played so many games that it was almost inevitable he'd have some highlights. He doesn't even have 50 Premier League goals to his name for **** sake.

Glad he's going, admittedly he's very likeable but his presence has held us back over the last 5 years IMO.

So good luck Shola but you won't be missed.

I know he's no world beater, but I find it hard to dislike him. If he goes, I wish him good luck.

I really think the sending off was a harsh and sad way for him to end his career at NUFC <praying that he wont get another contract>
Didn't deserve that from that prat, but, strangely, if he'd shown the same sort of fire in his belly over the years, he would have been better thought of.

Thanks for the memories, there were some good ones but now's the time for Shola to go the World Cup, and next season look to move on in his life.
Whether he will or not is another thing - if Pardew does remain as Manager, I think Shola will get another One Year Contract.
Not that I will agree with it, but can see it happening.

I've got no ill-feeling towards the guy. Not his fault he was offered the contracts, and there's not one of us who would have turned down the chance to play for the team we support if it had been offered. Made the most of the ability he has and I wish him well for the future with whatever he does, but I hope it's not as a player here. We should be looking at a much higher level for our squad (should be but wont necessarily).

I wouldn't object to him having a non-playing role at the club if others can see that ability in him. Ability as a player doesn't always affect the ability someone has as a coach. I think he'll be gone though.

He's been a model pro off the pitch IMHO.
You don't see him getting pissed up round town smashing windows etc....
He had a good mentor though in Wor Alan.

Yeah, thanks and good wishes, but no more local boy sentiment. Seems a genuine nice guy, but his record as a striker is pretty abysmal. Hope he finds new pastures, sure he could still contribute in a lower league.
Time to hang his boots up at SJP and that's for sure.

The big useless infuriating pillock played well in the first half today, he held the ball up and played Gouffran in a couple of times. But Shola's problem is that he doesn't have enough days like today (sending off aside), he's far too inconsistent.

Shola hasn't held us back for the last 5 or whatever years: the fact that our recruitment policy is such that time and again he has been the most credible striking option available to us (as he was yesterday) is what has held us back.

I think he will go this summer and I think he will go to London and join Tony Pulis at Crystal Palace.

Pulis tried to sign him for Stoke City at one point and is something of a Shola fan.
He won't be able to resist getting him on a free transfer...

You read it here first! <cheers>
