They seemed to cut through the centre of our defence easily at the start of the 1st half, and up front - 1st half especially - we missed any sort of defence splitting balls & we just couldn't get in behind. Could Catts have helped us in both of those departments? I thought we played quite well but still disappointing. Oh, well, let's see how the closed season goes and who we keep/buy. Maybe I should have had a bet on Swansea eh?
yes Had high hopes for Bridcutt after the Newcastle game, but to me has proven he can not cut it at this level Very poor game, lost in the pace and intensity of the league with no idea of direction, rare he actually tackled the ball either Catts whilst may have his liabilities organises a team, gets people raring to go and also has a great pass on him Think Catts knows his position is secure
bridcut and the useless defence means that is no home wins in any of the last home games at the end of the season (7) now 1 draw 6 defeats, I was going to renew my season card but now that the old Sunderland are back I won't bother, finished the season the way we started !. They weren't interested which is how we just survived again.
You're an idiot. You base your decisions on one game? Ffs. Good riddance. I renewed. You.decide not.to.because we had a poor defensive half against Swansea? I base my opinion on the manager we have at the helm and the belief I have in the club
Sadly, Bridcutt's out of his depth but I can't see Gus ever admitting it. We're a much weakened team when Catts doesn't play. Given his fitness record and his (hopefully cured) tendancy to pick up cards this is a potentially big problem.
You cant judge a player on one game, Gus has seen a lot more of Bridcutt than we have and he has faith in him, so give the boy a chance, the result was a let down yes, but it is not one players fault. The players have been amazing in this epic finale, it was almost inevitable that a fall was coming, this is Sunderland, lets move on.
An incredible miss in the middle of the field. We lacked leadership and heart today. Finally anyone who still thinks Bardsley deserves a new contract wasn't watching the guttless pussy today.
Catts and Alondo missed and Bridcutt was off the pace today BUT in a lot of the games Bridcutt's played he has shown composure and seems to read the game well. I think the boy will come good. I also thought Ba did well when he came on. Today just felt a bit 'after The Lord Mayors parade' for me; big relief after Wednesday's game and that was the 3rd game in a week as well.
I had to read that more than once as well but I think the point is we've lost the last game of the season for 6 of the last 7 seasons - completely misses the point that 'this defence and Bridcutt' haven't been here for them all but why let facts get in the way when there's a bit of scapegoating to be done.
My point on other threads, Catts has been the stalwart in our defence. We need to build next seasons midfield around our Captain. Bridcutt is or will be a good stand-in for Catts. But make no mistake, when the post-mortems on the last 5 or 6 games have been studied, Catts will be seen as the catalyst for every game. He is our Gerrard.
I have already told you about Bardsley and Bridcutt, what another disappointing end to the season, why did gus throw the game away, still without a win at home in the final game of a season.
