The team are very happy...not a surprise they want to stay together.

That last sentence is so true Fran. I'm employed by our French division and they all speak Emglis; several messages don't quite get understood though.

Earlier, I decided to listen to Radio 5 for the second half of the Wigan v QPR commentary, and what with enjoying a big evening meal, I lay back on the bed listening quietly on headphones. The inevitable happened and I dozed off [the game was zzzzZZZZzzz as mentioned on the playoff thread] only to be awakened by Dan Walker talking excitedly about West Ham scoring at Man City, whilst Liverpool were winning at home. Then a reporter said that there had been extraordinary scenes at St Marys after Mauricio Pochettino had been seen having lunch with Daniel Levy.

In my half awake state there was an air of plausibility to the proceedings. It was only when the lunch was mentioned that I knew it was all fantasy. Radio 5 was doing a little skit, in the present tense, on what might be on Sunday. The little buggers, they had me going for just a couple of seconds. :)

Let's hope there isn't a case of deja vu tomorrow :) Apart from Liverpool winning the title obviously.

Think thta sums it all up. Board have to demonstrate ambition by holding on to our stars and strengthening. If they do MP is likely to stay. He woint want another Espanyol wher all the silver got flogged.

It may be that whatever the board say, Mauricio won't want another contract. Kreuger mentioned that MP has a clear plan for his career. He may be happy to finish his contract here next season, but leave his options open from then on. He may fancy a return to Spain for example. He could still change his mind at the end of next season and sign another contract here. I can't actually see any advantage to him signing an extension now.

Personally don't see why he would leave us for Spurs. Only way I can see him going is if the board give him the idea that players will be sold and not adequately replaced. Spurs are not much of a step up to us, and with Levy's record for hiring/firing managers would Poch be given the time/funds/patience to build a superb project like he has here? Probably not. Lets hope Poch is still motivated by the way things are done down here, because I truly believe the 'Southampton way' is unique in Britain, and can be barely matched globally outside of the Barcelona's of this world.

Unfortunately, they had to do it at Espanyol, just to stay afloat. It must have been soul destroying to see the achievements of one season not built upon, but merely held up as a shop window, so that all the stand out players could be sold. I don't blame him for a second for not wanting that again, yet it could so easily be so.

Hopefully, Katharina is enthused enough to realise that Nicola and her Father wanted this club to achieve something truly special. Smaller clubs don't do the sort of thing, they were trying to achieve, these days. Poch is exactly the sort of manager who clues into this vision. It makes little sense to allow it to fall apart.

the fact that mauricio's concerns have made it into the public arena through a known associate rather than having been resolved through always talking and being comfortable with les reed is the cause for concern.

i wanted to give reed's grand statement my full confidence espcially having identified particular words I wanted to hear, I think I got confirmation bias. he suggests there is misinformation being spread but a lot of it seems to come from his employees now.

remember when sportsdirect news quoted jordan sibley as their source through the dreamwrecker period?

I think the problem with Les Reed's statement was that he deliberately chose to say that people were misinformed or that reports were misleading. He never said that anything was wrong or incorrect. I know many have translated that statement as him saying no-one is going but to me his use of misleading and misinformed may well be to brush off the media reports even though there may be a level of truth in the actual story. Not that deals are being done or discussions are taking place, just that the reports are getting ahead of themselves when the board / club know of declared interest from clubs or feelings from players whilst not wanting to let the cat out of the bag.

TBH until Reed or Krueger or players themselves say that X player will definitely not be sold then I think many will worry.

He is going to leave, it's now time for the board to say so & line up a replacement. I sincerely hope I am wrong as I feel he can progress us further. But, if he does go, a new replacement needs to be found quickly.
